Topic: Mario Kart 8 Online Compromised

I was just playing online when this one person kept warping into first and being immune to all weapons. It wasn't lag as everyone else was a clean hit as soon as hit with an item so I'm thinking it could be a hacker. I'm currently seeing if I can upload a highlight reel showing this.

I haven't tackled online in MK8 that much, but can you take a screenshot maybe? Or report the NNID.

Let's not "panic" too soon, maybe something glitched, like the player disconnecting and the CPU took over "wrongly" making a mess. Even a fine tuned game like mario Kart 8 could have weird stuffs happening occasionally.
Still I can't wait to see the video if you'll manage to upload the reel, be it the program failing for a race or an hacker it should be an interesting view XD (but definitly hope is not the latter else bye bye online fun in MK8 >.>;;; ).

Yeah, players can sometimes avoid items or the wrong info gets sent online.

Also sounds like it could have been that 1 player lagging

I'm really confused about uploading videos, for some reason only uploading to Nintendo Network provides a random screenshot. Do you need to upload to Youtube for it to be a video?

I remember the two times my internet went out while I was playing MK8 I jumped from tenth to first before I disconnected. Shouldn't be so quick to accuse people of hacking.

I've encountered this same situation in Mario kart DS a long time ago and a couple of other online games. I'm with the above.

Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.

A similar thing happened to me. I was in second the first lap on bowser castle, at the end of the second lap, the guy in first takes a sharp left and dives off the stage. I take the lead and lead till about the final portion before the finish line. Out of thin air (I saw his car materialize), the guy appears in front of me and takes the lead just in time to win. It was the second time in a row that this happened with the same user. I exited the room, because cheaters like him don't deserve the satisfaction of beating me. I know it wasn't lag, since I had been playing for 2 hours smoothly beforehand.

Mario Kart DS was because of the Action Replay though.

I seem to do better if I artificially do badly on the first lap. (Better items for the rest of the race).

Never managed a clean 1st the whole time race in Mario Kart 8. (Every time only thing that matters is the last 30 seconds and what items you get).

Internet connections are not constant in their strength. Maybe more people got home and was using the internet for that person. Maybe it just went into prime hours for internet use so his connection was slowed. It could have been lag still.

Well if that wasn't by design they would have patched it in version 2.0

Thanks for all your comments, I was concerned because similar things have happened on Mario Kart Wii which was caused by hackers.
