Yeah it can get annoying the item balancing. The worst thing is when you are in the top five and then get hit by a barrage of items knocking you down to like 10th and then getting nothing but mushrooms. Boy do I hate that.

@Wouwter: Odd thing is whenever I get mushrooms and people are behind me they seem to get all the good items like Bullet Bills or red shells and I get a crappy mushroom which usually results in me coming in last then.

That happens to me so much!
I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]
To be fair, when has Mario Kart been catered to hardcore players?
Also, if you're playing and either the way you're playing or the results of the match are causing you to damage your controller, you obviously need a break. For Pete's sake, it's a game. This, coming from a highly competitive player. No use in wrecking a controller that sells for $50 MSRP.
The original Super Mario Kart was quite reasonable. (I think it was at least a year before I could do 150cc).

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.

I disagree about SMK being reasonable because Mario and Luigi are cheaters in that game!

I play as Yoshi, so Mario always places dead last every time!
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
Got the game today, and it ceartnly has the potential to take MKDSs place as my favorite ^^
So far I unlocked three characters, and two of them was my least favorite additions from the trailers x-)
Random question:
Why does Wendy Koopa participate in the races when I have not unlocked her?

If you play online, it wouldn't make much sense to prevent others from using all players and unlocked vehicle parts (or to filter out who they really are or what gear they're using). I guess they wanted local play to behave the same.

I was talking about a private 50cc race. First race in the game, she was there

I guess they just do it for variety. At least that would be my guess either that or just so you can see all the characters at some point.

I got the game today, updated it, downloaded the free merchedes stuff, started a race as Luigi, and there she was
I wonder what Link's kart horn will sound like in Mario Kart 8. I bet it's Navi's annoying "Hey"
If it's the "You got a thing" jingle, I will spam that horn for all eternity.
