SMB, SMB2, SMB3, SMW, SMW2, SMS, SM3DL were all very different from each other and all good games.
SMG had two games, but it felt like it offered good improvements.

NSMB isn't as bad as people pretend it is. The DS game sucked--felt pretty dull to me. Whereas the Wii version had awesome multiplayer. That was a big difference. Then you can argue the 3DS and Wii U games have no big differences but all of these games are on separate consoles. To me NSMB U is what Super Mario World was to Super Mario Bros. 3: a slight upgrade on a new system.
