Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is the sort of game I feel Nintendo should be releasing on the Wii U, I honestly feel the Wii U is crying out for big games like this genuine system seller's, I always feel games like this are kind of wasted being on a tiny handheld console, the original Luigi's Mansion was great! on the GameCube, I feel it's a real missed opportunity not having the sequel on the Wii U.

Thoughts?

Couldn't care less but maybe I just don't know enough about it.,

I like Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon being on the 3DS to be honest. Okay, I guess I have some bias (running a site about the 3DS means I need as many games as possible to be available on the system), but I think the console is perfectly capable of running a great Luigi's Mansion game. That and well, it'd sell better there at the moment, it's not exactly the type of game people would buy a Wii U for.

So, is this a Luigi's Mansion 2 thread? There's already one of these on this site (one that's used quite a bit).

In either case, the 3DS is a huge seller, and way more people have a 3DS than all other current systems, so putting it on the 3DS is the smartest move at the moment. It would reach the biggest audience. Right now a lot of big games such as Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter 4, Bravely Default, and quite a few others are on the 3DS instead of the WiiU. I think that for local multiplayer, the gyroscope, the 3D effect and quite a few other features will fit this game well.

I don't think this is a wasted opportunity at all, and am actually very happy about it. Especially here in Japan, people prefer their portables.

Hmmm, I have no problem with it being on the 3DS, that's not really what I was getting at, I was basically just trying to say that I'd like to see this type of game on the
Wii U, similar to things like Paper Mario: Sticker Star & Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, I just think it would be nice to get these kind of games on the Wii U in HD on a large screen etc.

All these games are big names in their own right, something the Wii U is crying out for, hopefully we may see games like this on the Wii U in the future.

Well, I still think this could have been said on the other Luigi's Mansion 2 thread. WiiU is still getting some big games, namely third party it seems, though you guys are getting Pikmin 3, which I wish we were getting on the 3DS.

The original Luigi's Mansion was developed to show off the 3D capabilities of the GameCube. Surely it stands to reason that the sequel will be on Nintendo's next 3D capable console.

Well maybe now that Nintendo is combining both departments we will see more released of the same game on both systems.

There's nothing wrong with a LM2 thread in the Wii U section if people would like to brainstorm ideas how the GamePad could be used to enhance the LM experience.

that said, i'm right there with you re: pikmin for 3DS, i wish they were doing a 3DS version too

No. It's too early for a game like LM on the Wii U. It's not the kind of game that sells systems and this one took a lot of work, the resources required to release it so early on the Wii U wouldn't be worth it. It's fine to wish it was on the Wii U but Nintendo made the best move financially here. If the game sells well, I'm sure Nintendo will keep it going as a franchise and we'll get a U sequel.

I would like a Luigi's Mansion game on the Wii U. The dual analog controls and the fact that you have easy access to six buttons while keeping both thumbs on the joysticks. I'm still sad that there's a lack of analog triggers, because it was fun to play around with that on the gamecube. Still, I think a Luigi's Mansion on Wii U would be great.

What do you guys think if the game had a behind the back camera view (like RE4) or used the Wii Remote with motion plus for aiming the vacuum?

A few years? I'm sure they could make it in two. One if they actually worked on it full time.

I think it would be a great idea. I never even played the game but it looks great. Heck even an upgrade of the old one... anything Luigi would be sweet.

I honestly don't see much in the topic, but the Gamepad could be used as the flashlight, Poltergeist 5000, and Gameboy Horror. The view would be the same as NintendoLand.

I'm buying Dark Moon but I don't think the series is a system seller to be honest. I like it and it should be more popular but I think it's about as popular as the Wario Land series. Which isn't that popular but it should be. I find it far superior to the New Super Mario Bros series when it comes to 2D platforming.

Not every game has to be a system seller - Sometimes they just have to be software sellers!

Well if Nintendo keeps up this "HD Remake" thing like they're doing for Wind Waker, then maybe they'll do it for Luigi's Mansion?

I wouldn't mind an HD remake of Luigi's Mansion. It was kind of a short game, too, so it shouldn't take as long to do as Wind Waker.

No, no, no. No overhead view. That would be a step backwards. It can stay with the view it has now, but I always wished you could switch which direction you were looking at the room from. That would've made use of the d-pad and would have been beneficial. Well, maybe it could switch to overhead if you press up on the d-pad, but I would not like a permanent overhead view.

Yeah. As much as Sean Malstrom has probably made everyone think all games should be system sellers, not every title needs to be. After all, look at all the great movies, TV shows and games which got a reputation as cult classics. Or which caught on with a smaller but still quite large fanbase. Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon will just be one of those.
