I already said if you like Nintendo games, a Nintendo platform is for you.

I'm not sure how many times I can say this without someone saying 'well I like Nintendo games'. lol

Here's my two cents. I'm a huge gaming and Nintendo fan. I bought a WiiU day one and I love it. If you love Nintendo's first party titles and games in general, I definitely recommend it. The WiiU has good graphics currently, (Ninja Gaiden 3 is a prime example of how good games can look on this platform), has several games out now, and tons more coming. The problem of the WiiU was it lost momentum. Pikmin 3 and Rayman Legends were both delayed — 007 Legends sucked and Aliens Colonial Marines sucked/cancelled for WiiU. That was four big titles (IMO) that were going to keep the WiiU's steam going, but lost. Beginning of August though, the drought is over. This year is getting a slew of awesome titles for this console: some examples include: Super Mario 3D World, New DK Returns, Zelda Wind Waker remake, CoD Ghost, Splinter Cell, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, Watchdogs, and several more. I LOVE off-screen and multi-screen play. Being able to switch my multiplayer session for Call of Duty or Monster Hunter from TV to gamepad without skipping a beat is awesome. Same for doing dual-screen play.

Here's a list of the games I currently own for it — feel free to ask about any of them — Call of Duty Black Ops 2, ZombiU, Nintendo Land, New Super Mario U, Sonic Racing, Ninja Gaiden 3, Lego City, Scribblenauts, Injustice, Epic Mickey 2, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Trine 2 and several several downloadable games, VC included.

The 3DS has a massive library and is a must-own as well.

Again, my two cents.

I think the best games are about to come out for the Wii U.... And I've been kept busy with 9 retail titles, plus I want a few more. There's at least a dozen that look worthwhile coming out in the next eight months.

I don't really understand that mentality. Sell it when the used market is weakest and buy it later new when it's "worth it" again presumably losing all of your digital purchases in the process. Each to their own I guess.

(Sorry about the bad quoting)

I dont really see what there is to argue about.. The second-hand market is nothing new. I dont see a reason to have a device for no reason at all. I´d rather sell it and get some coins for it and if it would, sometime in the future, appear to be a worthy buy then i will give it another chance. Over here the Wii U is currently down at 12 GBP / 190 US dollar for a new unit.. This is the stores that tries to get rid of them / get any interest. Nintendo have made no official price reduction..

I love Nintendo, always have, but TODAY i just dont feel that Wii U was a good buy or that it has a good chance of picking itself up. Mario Kart 8 and X looks amazing.. but so does many other games on platforms who have a lot of more games. I would say that its likely that i will get Wii U again.. backtrack what happened with the console. Hopefully indie devs will start to distrubite retail games as well.. such as Telltale started out on the original Wii. I really like the support Wii U have with Kickstarter campaigns.. however i also dont feel that Nintendo have made a good solution for digital downloads so theres another issue. Anyway, now i sound super negative. I had super fun with Wii U in the first 6 months... NSMBU was great and there was plenty of really fun launch games such as Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Arkham City and Mass Effect 3.. But today i wouldnt recommend anyone to buy it mainly because
how weak it has been since then and how the future looks (or does not look at all).

The whole "if you love Nintendo games you will like it" i think is a bit farfetched with few Nintendo games out there on the platform and basically all of them basically strikes the same audience. I know Nintendo have had problems with the transition to HD... but one cant deny that X, Mario Kart 8 and so on would have been good for 2013. Not 2014.

If he has a lot of the titles on other systems, perhaps. I got mine in April and haven't been even in the slightest disappointed. Granted, I really don't play games all that much, but have enjoyed- Sonic All Stars Racing, Injustice, Trine, Nano Assault, Madden, Monster Hunter, Batman Armored Edition, Game & Wario, Nintendo Land, Zen Pinball- Star Wars and Marvel, Super Mario Bros.... There's at least four current titles I want to get- Zombie U, Need for Speed, Darksiders and AC3. Plus several of the new anticipated releases- Mario Kart, Olympics, Sonic, Smash Brothers, Donkey Kong, Wonderful 101....

well lets see, X one is not on a real good track so far, ps4 just has unnecessary RAM, games that would be better on steam, and a touchpad(nothing much there) and Wii U has a bunch a good games.... that are coming in 2014:/
stick with your PC for now, folks

To be fair, PC trumps Xbox and PS4...but it can't trump the Wii U due to first party titles. Let's face it, Nintendo is possibly the largest publisher in terms of franchises

I still think Mario Kart looks better. I've had plenty of chances to play the more realistic racers throughout the years. Even The Crew looks better than Drive Club, IMO.
Crash Bandicoot, Jak, Geomon, and even Little Planet have all had racing games to compare to Mario Kart. I've always been about the Mario Kart the whole time, and unless something changes on the realistic racing scene, I'm not gonna be interested.
DriveClub also has nothing on F-Zero. That's 2 titles from Nintendo that I like over anything else companies besides Nintendo can offer.
F-Zero will probably never get a sequel, though, unless Nintendo makes so much money, that they can make any game without a risk of payback being a factor.

So ya, it's fine if you like Drive Club, but you can't really say it's a better game than anything without dwelving into the realm of opinion, and possibly different physics.

Imma try to keep it short. Get a Wii U, the reason I say this is because now is a good time to have one with the steady stream of games coming out after Pikmin 3. I highly recommend looking for a second console after buying a Wii U though because you will miss a lot of 3rd party (I for one and getting a PS4 also). I personally didn't feel like a PS4 was worth a pre-order. I really don't like Sony 1st party, except for Naughty Dog.

I also don't see the supposed 20 or 30 games they say coming in the first year can hold up to Nintendo's 1st party, but hey, I could be wrong. So far though Sony didn't show anything that is worth a pre-order...I'm ranting, sorry. Anyways yes a Wii U will begin to prove it worth near the end of this year and next year. I still recommend you to research every console and make a decision. (if your buying only one that is)

Ya. Just get it.
It's likely Wii U will get alot of 3rd party games, too. The reason they aren't announcing Destiny, GTA V, The Crew, etc, is because they haven't even finished the Xbox One or PS4 versions. Those are their development priorities. I wouldn't doubt that once they finish development on those games, they'll try to port some over, especially when the install base keeps growing because of Nintendo games, and some 3rd party games like COD Ghosts are basically confirmed already.
I think the Wii U may not get SOME 3rd party games, but it will have free online and GamePad features for the ones it does get. IF you get an Xbox One, you'll be paying for online, so you may get the game for that unless the GamePad and Wii remote+ are the extra kind of features you're looking for for your games as well.
The architechure of the Wii U is completely different than any machine basically ever, unless someone actually went out of their way to experiment with computers to get more from less like Nintendo did, but my guess is that didn't happen, otherwise we would have seen a device like Wii U sooner then even when the Wii U launched. Nintendo made sure they have a stronger machine this generation.

I didn't say I didn't understand selling something you no longer need or not getting one in the first place. I didn't say that the Wii U was doing fantastically right now either. I said I didn't understand selling it now with the intent of getting one down the road. You spent that money on it, you lose some of it automatically when you sell it used, you've already lost a bit more if it's price reduced at retail. If you buy it again later you haven't saved any money by selling it now and waiting. Worse yet if you've got any eShop content already you're going to lose that also... which most people I would assume have.

The second-hand market only works if your intention is to sell it off and move on to something else entirely or abandon the idea entirely. It doesn't make sense if you're buying things new to sell them used only to buy the same thing new again.

This holiday is looking awesome. I know there are a bunch of games I want for Wii U:

Duck Tales Remastered
Pikmin 3
Wonderful 101
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Zelda Wind Waker HD
Super Mario 3D World
Rayman Legends
Watch Dogs
Splinter Cell Blacklist
Batman Arkham Origins
Disney Infinity
Oddworld New N' Tasty
Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails

Just the ones I could list off the top of my head

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Those two games are so different from each other. Comparing them is pointless.

Exactly. Comparing games like Mario Kart 8 to Drive Club always results in choosing between which one you like more.
I'd rather have Mario Kart 8 over Drive Club anyday.

I personally don't understand the appeal of more realistic racing games. I mean 60fps with full 1080p would be cool but beyond that I don't think there's much that can be improved from the best racing games of the end of last-gen in terms of visuals. Need for Speed: Most Wanted is good enough for my needs and even if I got a PS4 I don't think I'd bother getting a "better looking" racing game for it.

Mario Kart is a different thing entirely. Mario Kart is the best Kart Racer and 8 looks like a pretty damn good version of Mario Kart. I know I'd get more out of Mario Kart 8 so for me it's no contest.

When people say that Wii is for exclusives it means the console is filled with exclusives that one might like.

According to Wikipedia:

PS3 has 213 exclusives.
XBOX 360 has 243 exclusives.
Wii had 369 exclusives.

Considering that there are no Wii games released for a long time, it is a huge gap.

This is not about quality - but statistically, people might find more exclusives they like in a larger group. As for metacritic, all I said was that the two best rated games were Nintendo exclusives. I didn't say anything else. The only thing that was proved here was indeed like said, that by checking the 90 threshold, it is practically a tie. I didn't check other thresholds. There is a big difference in saying PS3 has the best exclusives into saying the gap is infinitely small and other companies have the same amount of exclusives.

Some Wii games never even get reviewed enough to be on metacritic, sometimes because they're "shovelware" (altough shovelware iOS games still get reviewed, and it's always in the eye of the beholder), sometimes because they're too niche or under the radar. Sometimes it is simply because there are not as many reviewers for Nintendo released games or for some other reason. For example, even though the developer said that Wii eventually received the definitive version of Retro City Rampage (it included the ROM package and corrected some bugs), which I loved, it only received 3 reviews and therefore outside the realm of metacritic, although that's not an exclusive, just an example. La Mulana is one of the Wii's best reviewed games yet easily could have been left outside with only 7 reviews, and this happens. Now, what happens is that people might love a Wii game that scored 73. It was based only on 5 reviews and one was harsh, the others were in the other extreme. To dismiss those exclusives as not "great" a priori based on metacritic makes no sense. The whole point of people recommending Wii for exclusives is also finding about the lesser known games.

Yeah, Wii has a huge number of great games. Some of them were exclusives when they started out, like Muramasa, Swords & Soldiers, MotoHeroz or Just Dance, and some of them are still exclusives like the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series, Trauma Center, F.A.S.T and all of Nintendo-published games, of course. It's a good thing Wii U can play Wii games, even though it could be a little easier (just start a Wii game and it would go straight to the Wii mode).
