Topic: looking for help. First timer stepping into the nintendo world. Cant decide Wiiu or 3DS

Get both 3DS and Wii U. I can't even say which one I prefer out of the two, but that would be unnecessary comparison, and it isn't a bad thing at all, is it?
Just get both so you won't miss out on pure Ninty fun!

Definitely get the Wii U.
You'll have all the Wii library too, and you'll soon have both GBA and DS games on the Game Pad, along with all the HD Wii U games.
I'd say no contest.

Most important thing to consider is genre, and what classic Nintendo games you liked:

If you like platformers and collect-a-thons Wii U is your console

• Batman Arkham series
• Bayonetta (coming 2014)

If you like Zelda, you can't really lose.

i went to gamestop and was looking at the games on the wall and no offense but the library is very small with only a few games IMO where as the 3DS wall was full of games. I am actually going back today and grabbing the 3DS XL Yoshi edition in a few minutes

This thread wasn't about which console has more games or which console will sell better. It's clear that in that battle the current winner is 3DS. No question. The OP never asked that though. Instead the OP was leaning towards the Wii U already and wanted to know if there was enough content there.

TBH as an owner of both who's had the 3DS more than a year longer I'm not sure which I enjoy more. I have about the same number of games on both and while there are more top tier games on the 3DS right now I'd still rank a lot of the Wii U higher than their 3DS equivalents. It's a tough call really.

Although if I was to pick one, if it was a "you can only keep one" scenario right now. I'd probably keep my 3DS. Purely because it already has a complete library of games. I have my Kart, I have my Pokemon, I have my Zelda, I have my Animal Crossing. They were all top-tier versions of those games. In time the Wii U will probably manage to do the same but right now? It doesn't have them.

........ also when I future-gaze and think about games I want this year. Not a single 3DS game. Not one. The Wii U already pre-E3 I know I'm going to want Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2 and probably X. I'm sure I'll probably get something for the 3DS, maybe something that's already out. Right now? The 3DS' known near future has less content than the Wii U's immediate past.

Well you couldn't go wrong anyway between them. Mazal Tov. And now you can also experience the awesome streetpass games, that's one advantage over the Wii U it will always have.

Well I think you would like to experience Nintendo's art in HD. When I bought a Wii U, I was impressed by the way the artwork stood out in high resolution. Even New Super Mario Bros looked washed out in comparison to it's Wii U counterpart. In general, Wii U games sometimes suffer in transition to 3DS, such as LEGO City. But 3DS has Pokemon....

Get the Wii U Mane.

Plus it has an awesome looking line up this year.

Wii U by far. I like the 3ds but people make it out to be greater than it is. Sure It has more games(it's out longer), but I would say quality over quantity.
Mario 7 is a good game, but it just pales in comparison to Mario kart 8. Same with 3dland and 3dworld. Give the wii u another year or two and most titles people list for the 3ds will be replaced by the better console "versions".

Also the OP doesn't sound like a portable gamer.

i ended up trading one of my PS4s for a fantastic deal to a guy on craigslist. I ended up scoring what I think was a good deal. here is what I ended up getting.

Looks like someone really liked Mario and Luigi... Now, balance that Wii U with some Pikmin 3 (use nunchuck!), Lego City Undercover, Zombie U, Rayman Legends, Tropical Freeze, Wonderful 101 and some eShop DLs and you'll have a great time!

If you have a Wii U, you really should get The Wonderful 101, it's an EPIC game!

ive gotta go against the grain and say wii u.i own both consoles and there both great but i spend more time on my wii u than 3ds i actually dont see why the 3ds gets so much love except for that the DS brand seems to be stronger than the wii. the librarys are comparable and the release schedule for 3ds is in even worse shape than the wii u's.

@ocn4lc4pon3 Sounds like a very good trade sir, considering it sounds like you still have a PS4 AND you get not one, but /two/ 3DSs and a Wii U. You also get a good number of the no-brainer games for each system. Hope you get as much fun out of the combination as I do.

I will say this I am loving my Wii U more then the handhelds. Not so say there not good but there is just something about the Wii U & Pad playing Mario 3D Worlds. Amazing game.

I went today and bought a bunch of Disney infinity stuff. Looking forward to be getting into it
