Topic: Looking for a specific controller...

I could have sworn @skywake had posted something on this months ago, but search is turning up nothing.

I'm not generally a fan of having half a dozen controllers laying around to play one console, so I'm looking for a 3rd party option that:

  • Works as a Wii U Pro Controller
  • Also works as a Wii Classic Controller Pro
  • Also works as a Wii Remote with MotionPlus

The only thing I can find that seems to do this are those ugly as sin controllers that have a SNES controller melted into the middle. Is there any other controller that has all of these functions?

I didn't post anything about this

Also no, I don't think there are any controllers that do all of those things and are decent. Your best bet is to get a Pro, CC and WiiMote with Motion Plus.

I must be crazy or something then, thanks anyway.

There are the hori and pdp gamecube ones coming out for smash that work as classic controller pros and hook up to the wiimote if that was what you were thinking about.

There is only one I know of but it only works as a CC Pro and Pro Controller. (Switch to Flip Between).

Gioteck GC-2 but you need the second revision of it (First is rubbish and just works as a CC Pro).

What I'm thinking of would require built-in infrared (to function independently as a Wii Remote) and bluetooth (to function independently as a Pro Controller or Wii Remote), like this monstrosity (that doesn't really work, according to the reviews). The Hori and PDP controllers have neither, and as far as I know, are just designed Classic Controller Pros with a turbo switch.

In other words, it would need to work for Metroid: Other M (which uses only the Wii Remote), Xenoblade Chronicles (which uses Classic Controller Pro, but not Wii U Pro Controller), and Pikmin 3 (which uses Wii U Pro Controller, but not Classic Controller Pro).

This, right?

That's pretty close to what I have in mind. They don't seem to have an online store though, or it seems to be rather hard to buy one from outside of the UK.

No idea about the logistics of getting one or whether anybody else does something similar. (If they can do it Nintendo could have and anybody else can also).

GC2-WIU14 is the model with the switch (Old one is 12). The price has also almost doubled since I got mine.

To be honest, the best solution for you would be to pick up a WiiMote with the Wii Classic controller. The CC works with nearly every Wii U game that supports a controller. And it works on all of the Virtual Console/WiiWare games too.

Your perfect device happens to be the Wii U Pro controller, however it's not backwards compatible which is just plain stupid.

Amazon still sells the Japanese classic controller for cheap.
