Looking for a recommendation about this game. I've played Lego games in the past, mainly the Star Wars ones and got bored of them. I'm not a huge Lego fan. The games seem pretty linear but this one looks interesting with the open world and voice acting. I've heard its somewhat like a Lego GTA. Is this game any good?

I would recommend it myself. There is a ton of things to do and the city itself is rather large. The loading times are my main complaint, but it tends to only crop up when you first start the game, and then if you load any main story missions. Once you start playing, if you just want to mess with things around the city and beyond, no loading. Lego GTA describes it pretty well.

Graphics come after gameplay. Every time. It takes more than being pretty to be a good game.

It's the best Lego game in my opinion and you can tell it's been made for the Wii U,the gamepad is put to pretty good use and the collectables/special tasks are all displayed so you know where you are up to.

The open world map is very large and has quite a lot of variety, you will spend lots of time exploring the city on foot, car and helicopter,as people have said the initial load times are quite long but once loaded you can explore the full area with no loading at all.

The sheer amount of collectables and special tasks also deserves a mention, there are 450 gold bricks to collect rather than the usual 250 offered by most Lego games,so getting a 100% will take up plenty of your time.

I've recently started Lego Marvel, and I can say that Lego City is that 10% better. The puzzles are just a little more taxing, the jokes a little more funny, the vehicles more fitting, and in general the game is better programmed and the gamepad interface better designed. It makes the Wii U worthwhile and unique like it should be.

I'm also not a fan of the series having done Star Wars Trilogy %100 and then found subsequent games to be very similar. I think the biggest difference is the original story rather than lazily doing silent movie versions of scenes from films. There's only one character and using different costumes with linked abilities is pretty much the same mechanic in the other games, but it feels a little fresher (and less cumbersome) than switching between two on-screen characters. The open world environment is massive and great to explore with no load times as you're moving about - truly impressive - but the trade off is PS ONE-length initial load times.

I've reviewed it on my blog (see sig) if you're interested. Only Lego game I'd recommend; it's nice that it's a Wii U exclusive.

I've had a blast playing this with my 5 year old son. We are not very far but its easy enough for a 5 year old to play alone, so if your looking for a challenge this might disappoint. Judging by the list of collectibles, it could take 100+ hours to get 100% completion so it might be worth your time and money.

Lego City Undercover is an awesome game, definitely the best Lego game imo. The game is fun, has brilliant humor and uses the GamePad in some great ways (scanning the world in 360 degrees amazed me).

The only things that let it down are the load tmes (mostly when going from precinct to city) and that it's only single player. I'd still highly recommend it though and would put it high in a list of the top 10 Wii U games.

Very awesome game. Tons of collectables, funny comedy, and interesting story, and great level design!

I loved it, couldn't stop playing it til it was 100% complete!

This is a fantastic game. after 45 hours, I am 70% complete,
My only issues are the loading times in places and there is no off tv play, but the amount of collectables and comedy value more than makes up for it

I don't have a WiiU myself but Lego City is imo one of the must have games on the U..

The game is awesome. I just don't have the time to come anywhere near 100% on the thing, but I did the main story all the way through along with some side tracking and exploration from time to time. The whole experience was very satisfying, though some of the platforming would get on my nerves (usually not in the "instances," but sometimes when you were scaling large buildings) due to slightly spotty jumping. The gamepad integration is, as others have said, REALLY good. You mention the open world as an attractive feature to you, so you definitely won't be disappointed.
