The biggest thing they need to do for this game is re-record the dialogue. The voice acting is atrocious, even for the time.
There are worse things. There are plenty of awesome games that had terrible voice acting (Resident Evil, Deus Ex)
....yeah...no, this is not one of them. Almost every single line is cringe-worthy. It should've been illegal for them to release it in that state, because my ears bleed every time that cat opens his mouth. It looks fun, but I'd have to mute it and miss out on that beautiful music if they don't do anything about the voices...
Just been reading the Amazon page for this and thought I'd point out to everyone interested that they DO say the remaster will have redone 3D models and textures. They also claim 60fps. So I'll definitely be following this one closely. I do like remakes when they put a lot of effort in!
Watched some videos. Where has this game been? The gameplay looks good (not great, but good). What really sticks out to me is Kay's personality and the tone of the storyline, it really feels like the game has the right dose of maturity to make things interesting and not sterilized, but not too much that it feels over the top with blood, gore, violence, and swearing. Really wish we'd see more games like this.
About the voice acting, I don't really see much of a problem with it. It could be better, but I wouldn't call it "god awful". I think the artstyle needs more improvement than anything. Kay especially looks a bit too realistic and Uncanny Valley-esque, like he looks more like a costume than an actual cartoon cat.
I will be taking a punt on this once I clear through some of my other games (I've got Yoshi's Woolly World, Don't Starve and Earthbound Beginnings which have been on the back burner for Splatoon at the moment), looks promising, good value and capable of filling a niche for me.
Yeah, I am waiting for the Nintendolife-review. The game looks fun though, but I fear its another crasher. I mean, someone on miiverse said the game crashed several times after a certain boss. Other people also complained about this bug, and someone said the game is quite buggy. I really don't need another crash-fest.
7/10 seems ok. The PS4 average is only at 63 on metacritic. Although the WiiU average, whilst lacking enough reviews to register, is at 75.
I get the sense they didn't send out many review copies!
I got the game yesterday, and played it a short bit. Game feels good, 5th-gen 3D-platformer, a genre I've been missing for a while now. The camera isn't perfect, though, I wis they had put more time on that.
My biggest gripe is, why must the subtitles be so tiny I have trouble reading them even from GamePad.
I read one of the interviews with the developers and they made it sound like they were only given access to the art assets, not the actual code, so they weren't given permission by the publisher to correct things like camera issues.
Guess they wanted to avoid having to do any further bug testing, or something like that.
