Most likely Tempo from HarmoKnight.

I love Erica (Strike Witches), Eureka (Eureka Seven), and Tenma (School Rumble), stay away from them. xD
Update: Also love Yukari and Mizore from Rosario + Vampire.
Another Update: Also Yuuki...from School Rumble...
Yet Another Update: Also Amber and Xiao Pai from Rune Factory 4.

I think that your question really means this: what was the last orginal IP which was hugely successful and popular for Nintendo?
My answer would be pikmin but I could be wrong.

The cat's the only cat who knows where it's at.

Wii Sports would probably fall under that.

I believe it's wholly owned by Genius Sonority, as it was both developed and published by them (meaning it probably falls into the same category that Banjo Kazooie did, when Rare belonged to Nintendo. Exclusive for now, but if the company leaves Nintendo, Denpa Men is going with them).

I wouldn't mind if Nintendo magically stole the rights for Tomba! ;) Seriously, the PS1 original was such a great game....Sony abandoned their greatest cartoon mascot period. Forget about this Jack & Dexter and Ratcher & Clank S***, Tomba was the real deal kiddies!

Nope, Xenoblade is by Monolith Soft, a "fully owned subsidiary". You're also not going to see The Last Story, Pandora's Tower or Sin & Punishment on anywhere else but Nintendo consoles, even if they were made by third parties.

The last completely original IP I think is Dillon's Rolling Western, the most recent new IP though is Nintendo Land.

@6ch6ris6 xenoblade is not part of the xenogears franchise (either namco or square owns xenogears). Also while the Wonderful 101 is being developed by a 3rd party the ip is still owned by nintendo, just like how sega owns the baynetta ip even though it was developed by PG. So xenoblade is the last full retail console ip and W101 will be their next.
