In recent news at Wondercon, Nomura himself confirmed that he's interested bringing the Kingdom Hearts series to Nintendo consoles instead of handhelds.
"I want the whole Kingdom Hearts franchise to be available for everyone, not just on PlayStation. Having it available on different systems will introduce many people to the magical world of Kingdom Hearts."
He also stated that Kingdom Hearts titles will start appearing on Nintendo consoles first, then possibly available on Microsoft systems at some time later this year.
The first Kingdom Hearts title for the Wii U is "Kingdom Hearts 1.5 REmix", which contains:
Kingdom Hearts 1 Final Mix
Kingdom Hearts Rechain of Memories
Kingdom Hearts Days (Which is now playable thanks to DS VC)
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 REmix can be preordered for 20 dollars on eshop right now.
People who preordered will receive a free KH1 3DS theme that features Sora, Riku, Donald, and Goofy as they are looking at the sky while Dearly Beloved plays.
The code should appear in the rewards section of My Nintendo once you preordered.

No way, that is pretty cool. Tried to pre-order it through the Nintendo site but couldn't, guess you can only do it through the actual Wii U. Will try when I get home
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
