Apparently Iwata wants to go "Beyond Gaming", I like the idea (kind of) but first and foremost Nintendo should focus on its Fan-base and one VERY BIG PROBLEM they need to fix. Is bringing their hardware back to being the go to platform for BOTH first and third party games.

Fixing the Wii U short-term sales state and Nintendo's long-term projects like QoL (even though the big games of today are pretty long-term projects) are 2 quite different things. QoL is just a R&D thing right now and there will be a couple of years before they present an end product. The current E3 would be for new titles.
Am I the only one sick of this "innovation" crap Nintendo is trying to do so hard lately? It was fun with the Wii, just give me video games now.
Nintendo has always tried to innovate. Sometimes it works on the market, sometimes it doesn't. I'm pretty happy with the way the Wii U turned out regardless of the sales, much more so than with the Wii regardless of its sales figures.
Accounts: The next frontier for the great Nintendo empire.
Sorry, that was just too good to resist. I like Nintendo, but they seriously need to have accounts I can use on their 8th gen systems. The fact that I can message my friends on my 3DS using Xbox Live is a little pathetic. Even Microsoft has messaging functioning on Nintendo's system, like some sort of egoistical bragging right that Xbox Live is best. I don't mind the idea of them going beyond gaming, but they should really get their accounts together before doing so. At least linking friend codes w/ NNIDs for adding friends along w/ Miiverse messaging. They can make great games, and their online infrastructure is free, but I expect it to at least compare to Steam. They won't even pull that off. I'm not trying to be fanboyish, I'm just being humorous. Anyone who can take a joke can acknowledge my criticisms within my jokes.

I'm sorry, but you have to reach something before you can go beyond it. Nintendo isn't there yet. They need to correct poor business decisions, not look for the next gimmick to pull in a different market.
Nintendo doesn't see itself making enough money with videogames alone. Too bad, but it's the truth. So I am glad they try something different instead of being stubborn and become the next prehistoric gaming company.

You need to look at both the future and the present to be able to survive in the ever-changing entertainment industry. I think the R&D reached a very good product with the Wii U, and Nintendo has clearly said that they are disappointed with the sales and will put more resources towards the Wii U. At the time when Ubisoft decided to not release Rayman Legends, I think Nintendo started to be aware that they wouldn't get much help from 3rd parties, and it takes time to reallocate resources for new big games.
I can see them getting into the health and fitness industry. Fitness does typically improve one's quality of life.
that would be actually nice, I'd love to see Nintendo sports equipment and other fitness stuff
I said it once when they announced both the QoL and the licensing thing, I WANT THE LUIGI TENNIS SHIRT!!!!!!

Isn't fitness a more competitive market than gaming is. It wouldn't be worth competing in market that for the most part cherishes cross platofrm compatibility and where Google, Microsoft, and apple will be targeting this year.
