Remember when Nintendo released the Super GameBoy attachment for SNES back in the 90s? How about the GameBoy Player for Gamecube? There was something radical about the idea that you could play your handheld games on the big TV screen – pixelation and funky sound issues be darned. At a recent shareholders’ meeting, someone asked Nintendo president Satoru Iwata about whether the company was interested in offering similar functionality for Wii U in terms of interacting with DS and 3DS
I've been thinking about this.
3DS games don't actually look too terrible on a big screen TV, but it's only currently possible with the modified 3DSs that Nintendo uses at some events.
I probably wouldn't use the feature much if it was just me, but it'd be really useful if I wanted to let someone else watch me play (or let them play with me watching).
I think this would be cool! However, touch based games (Zelda: Phantom Hourglass) or games where all the action is on the touch screen (Resident Evil DS) wouldn't go over too well.
But just thinking of playing Kid Icarus Uprising on the big screen is just...AMAZING.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite
That would just defeat the purpose of buying a Nintendo 3DS all together. O_o
Not entirely. It might use the WiFi/Wireless functions of the 3DS system to sort of...Download Play the game in the game card slot so that you can play it on the Wii U and GamePad and once you save and quit, it uses the same Wireless functionality to save the data to the game card in a sort of download type way. I highly doubt they would just make a cheap little add on so you can plug it into the Wii U and play DS/DSi/3DS games on it.

It could even support 3D on the right TVs. This makes me want to break out my old Super GameBoy - some of the games supported extra functionality on it (Donkey Kong if I remember, and I distinctly remember Space Invaders had a nearly-perfect port of the original arcade game that was only available on the Super GameBoy).

I don't understand the question. You don't know how to use a touch pad?
Anyway, I like the idea. It's something I've thought about since they announced the gamepad with a touch screen.
I understand why Wii missed out on DS playabliity. I mean, there was only one screen on the wii. As for games that use the bottom screen as the touch pad, perhaps the game could be switched to having the touch screen displayed on the tv and use the remote as the stylus. Would really only work for certain games, but it would already not work with all games. Take the notebook style games, for example, where you held the DS sideways.

...how did you even get that from his post. :/
@Lz You probably wouldn't use it at all. You'd probably have to use the 3DS as its own controller, and you'd use that touch pad. They still want people to buy that thing, after all. I still doubt they'd do this, though, it still doesn't seem practical.
this sounds great games i will play on big screen
mario kart 7
zelda oot 3d
star fox 64 3d
tales of the abyss even tho i prefer my ps2 version
and others
Sounds like a great idea, but I don't think it will happen. Seeing as how both systems are set to use the Nintendo Network, it would be pretty cool if they could somehow let you play online 3DS games on the Wii U. Just a pipe dream.
I would love to have something like this. Playing somethinf like OoT 3D or Pokemon on the big screen would be awesome. I imagine the TV would represent the top screen on the (3)DS and the Gamepad the touch screen.
How about a Super Game Boy emulator you could use in conjunction with 3DS VC?
"Good. Everyone's together. Pyrrhon loves a party." "...It's funny because marriage is terrible!" If you know the origin of both of those quotes, then you're awesome! Songs are like hugs that mouths give to ears. Dreams are easy to achieve if hope is all...
I doubt I'd use it but its a nice idea for the people who would use it though. It wouldn't work for all games though like games that only use the touch screen like Warioware: Touched, The world ends with you or the Zelda DS games. It also wouldn't work well with games where the action goes across both screens like the Sonic rush games.

This thread is only one page long. Was it really too much work to read each post before replying?
^Maybe he skipped over it because it's a stupid idea? Ever thought of that? I mean seriously, touch screen-required games need far more precision than a Wiimote could offer.
