Wich side are you? I just bought a 3d Xl & 50$$ eshop card just for Sonic 2 3d!! so I must wait until I can spend cash on Mario Maker... but glad to take Sega side again
We the 90's children are the best! We had either the SNES or the Mega Drive, two of the finest consoles ever! I had the SNES but I dreamt of having the MD too lots of times. Fortunately, I had friends who had it, so I played my favourite Mega Drive games, Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles.
I'm also excited about 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 coming out tomorrow! It's cool you got the 3DS because of that game, but you'll see many more great options like 3D Outrun, 3D Street of Rages II, 3D Sonic 1...

But 3D Sonic 2 is $6 and you can only buy it once! Maybe you can put the rest of that money (minus tax) towards a purchase of Mario Maker on the eShop.
Sonic 2 3D is just the Sonic 2 everyone's already played in 3D, and sadly only digital. And Super Mario Maker is just the essentials of a SMB game, but with the great fun of playing and making user created levels. Not really the exciting Mario VS Sonic I'm hoping for.
@BearHunger: I'm planning getting Sonic 2 & at least 3 more 3d Sega classics... so I doubt I'll have that much and BTW I want a physical copy of MarioMaker
