In the past few weeks we've seen the headlines. Many apps are being recalled because of child safety concerns. While this is understandable, there are better ways ro fix it than axing the entire service.Games are being front paged on news sites such as this simply because they contain curse words while on a Nintendo console. Nintendo themselves are primarily targeting children, effectively leaving older gamers out to dry for the most part. The third party titles we do get are usually watered down ports. For the last two generations, Nintendo hasn't even tried to compare technology wise. I love Nintendo. I've been a Nintendo fan all my life, since I was five. but even I am starting to get annoyed by their recent decisions, and I find it increasingly difficult to defend them. What are your thoughts on these subjects?
Catering to adults isn't where the money is in the entertainment industry... I mean look at the 3DS, everything on that system is designed for kids and it is a extremely successful piece of hardware ATM... I don't know why but it just is
If I like a game I get it. I don't care what Nintendo does. I don't have to buy their stuff. I don't have to defend them or their decisions, they can do that themselves. I play for the love of the game. (Even though I hate games.)

No, that was 2011. I maintain that despite some very questionable decisions that Nintendo is far, far better right now then they were just 2 years ago.
Heh, I don't really mind actually. Call it cheezy, but I've been a Nintendo fan since I was like 4 or something and unless they quit the gaming business that's when I drop ship. Caring for something like a bunch of apps being shut down/not here is not why I'm a nintendo fan
nah, they need to stop making good games for over 6 months for me to lose my patience and even so I'd have to have all the games I wanted and get bored of them. resuming for me to lose patience with Nintendo 3 things are needed:
1 me having all the games I wanted
2 getting bored of every game I have
3 Nintendo stopping making good games for over 6 months
I doubt it would be possible, there are just too many games in this world. and yet I want more because older games and consoles are a pain to find in perfect state.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

Swapnote: I don't care, launch MiiVerse for 3DS already
Games for Kids: I don't care, they're awesome first party titles however you label them
Third Party: Sucks but the console is not doing great right now. It is getting more than the Wii did in that regard
Some playlists: Top All Time Songs, Top Last Year
"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

That sums up exactly how I feel about it too.

And what do you suggest that they do in the face of such a controversy? They may not be able to moderate Swapnote, so stopping it entirely was their best option.

As long as Nintendo keeps making good games, that's what I care about, and that won't be changing anytime soon.

“I am thankful for all of those who said NO to me. Its because of them I’m doing it myself.” – ?????
Short answer, yes.
Longer answer; the biggest problems for me is the lack of games, and that they seem to be so stubborn when it comes to staying updated to the modern world with online, connectivity, streaming, online coop games or online in general etc.
And i really hate the path they are taking with the few games I/we - were/are looking forward to, like NSMB, galaxy and 2d/3d mario. Its gone from a mature Mario64 that gave people a challenge and a sence of freedom or room for creativity, to chidlish mario thats linear, wierd and no skill demanding at all.
Seems like they think the age group 15-40 is OK because we have been given COD, AC, batman etc, but they are all bad games and even to late. And we that buy a Nintendo, dont buy a nintendo for COD, we buy a Nintendo for Mario, zelda, donkey kong, secret mana, pocky and rocky, Yoshi, banjo and kazooie, luigis mansion, Metroid, megaman etc etc etc etc... and it cant be dumbed down like mario has been.
And ofcourse new ips... where are they ? Zombie U ? gtfo...
Nintendo needs to come out of their shell and open their eyes. They have been hiding in that shell since launch of Wii.
If they moderated swapnote, they'd have to hire people to check every note. Too expensive.
I still have some patience for Nintendo. I hope someday they will enter into a new realm of adultish games.

They could've emphasised parental supervision more. My mother didn't even know my 3DS had parental controls when I first got it. They could've also just disabled photo sharing. Of course, if they had universal accounts this wouldn't even be an issue in the first place, as the offenders could just be banned.
As long as they don't start shutting down online multiplayer (I would be upset if they suspended the online features for, oh, Mario Kart 7; but I couldn't really care less about the shut down of Swapnote).
