Topic: Is Wii Fit U free stiil if you haven't activated the free trial?

I have the Wii Fit U info app on my Wii U but I've never downloaded Wii Fit U for the 30 day trial since I don't have the Wii Balance Board. If I buy a balance board and the Fit Meter, could I still get the game for free or was that a timed exclusive deal? I'm hoping that as long as your trial is still good, the deal is still good. Can anyone help me and anyone else who might share my situation on this?

If you have not downloaded the actual game yet, then you've missed your chance. The Wii Fit U info doesn't count.

It's asking me if I want to go the eshop to the download the game. (For the trial I'm guessing cuz it mentioned it earlier).

Well, it's still too late, unfortunately. There's no way to download the free trial and then activate the full version.

At the very least, I should be able to download the free trial right?

No. The free trial was a limited time offer.

Hmm... Since the eshop is undergoing maintenance right now, I'll have to check back later to see if I can get it. I'll see if I can provide an update if it actually works or not.

It won't. The free trial period ended months ago. If it were still available, Nintendo would still be promoting it on the eShop main page. The Wii Fit U Info icon doesn't mean anything. It's just an icon that redirects you to the Wii Fit U page on the eShop. Wii Fit U is now only available as a paid download or as two different retail packages (one includes disc, fit meter and balance board whereas the other package omits the balance board).

To be eligible for the full version promotion, you needed to download Wii Fit U via the eShop (which was available for free for a while) during the free promotion period (which ran from around November 2013 until around January 2014). Running the software for the first time would activate the 30 day trial. After doing that, syncing a fit meter to the software during the 30 day trial would have upgraded the trial version to an unlimited use full version. This promotion is no longer available and the only way to download the software now is to pay for it.

The free trial was only useful for people who actually owned a balance board, so you would not have benefited from it anyway. The free trial was provided as a courtesy for those who have supported either one of the two previous instalments in the Wii Fit series (i.e. Wii Fit or Wii Fit Plus). Considering that you've never owned a balance board, you would need to buy the full retail package anyway (which is the last item provided in the list below)...

There are four Wii Fit U "products" available for purchase at the moment…

  • Wii Fit U software (download)
This is a downloadable version of the Wii Fit U software that can be bought exclusively via the Wii U eShop. This is for people who already own a balance board from a previously purchased Wii Fit software title (i.e. Wii Fit or Wii Fit Plus). The download size is approximately 3GB.
  • Wii Fit U Fit Meter
This is a device that is used to measure your steps, your altitude, your METs, and it also provides an estimation of the number of calories that you burn in a day. The data stored on this device can be transferred to the Wii Fit U software via the Wii U Gamepad. You will need the Wii Fit U software (either as a download or a physical disc) and a balance board in order to use this device. This device is for a single user only and additional Fit Meters will need to be purchased for additional users on the same console. Fit Meters are NOT mandatory in order to use the Wii Fit U software, however, in order to make the most of all of the new features in the software, it would be best if you have one in your possession.
  • Wii Fit U (includes Wii Fit U disc and a Wii Fit U Fit Meter)
This package is for people who already own a balance board and a previous Wii Fit software title (i.e. Wii Fit or Wii Fit Plus).
  • Wii Fit U with Balance Board (includes Wii Fit U disc, a Wii Fit U Fit Meter and Balance Board)
This is for first time users of the Wii Fit franchise and provides you with everything that you need to use the Wii Fit U software out of the box (except for of course, the Wii U itself).
