So my brother in law asked me if the Wii U is worth it, and I did not know how to really answer that. $400 dollars is a lot of loot to dish out a on a system. An I really believe economically, saying if its worth it, the answer is no. Relatively however speaking as a gamer and a fan, the answer is yes.
I did not know what to answer him.
As much as I would like people to buy the system, I do not want to be the driving force behind it. If he is disappointed by the system, it was me who convinced him.
Tell him money's money, and he needs to spend it, otherwise it's not doing him any good... Haha. I would say if he plans on buying just anything because he has extra cash, he should buy one.

Is it that hard to say 'i'm enjoying mine, but you might want to try it at a kiosk and see if you like it or just wait 'til there's a game coming out that you really really want for it'? That way he's forced to make his own decision. It's not like he won't be able to resell it later on if he decides he does pick one up and decides he doesn't want it.

I basically told him that I love mine, but to think it through really well before purchasing it. But could not say.. "Yes its worth it"
I also made it clear that I am a Nintendo fan and that besides my Alienware, do not own another HD console.
My opinion is extremely biased
If he's putting the decision on you, he can't blame you afterward because it's his own fault he put you in that position.

Maybe? I dunno, I feel fine getting a system even without any truly must-own titles out yet if I feel it will be more than worthwhile in the long run (though some days even now I question how true that really is for 3DS...), but convincing someone else to spend that money for a console, even one with some great titles already like the Wii U, is not something I can easily do considering the price.
Just to be safe, I'd wait until like E3 I guess. Long enough time that most of the announced games that anyone cares about so far will be out and E3 will give us some idea of the future of the console I assume.
Is it worth the money you're willing to pay? How could anyone else answer that one but him? I agree, not a question you could answer without knowing his financial obligations, amount of disposable income, what kind of games he likes and how frivolous he is with money.
Tell him to buy the Basic Edition if he is not interested in Nintendo land (it sucks unless you have sibling/friends that come over a lot ). Personally, I would tell him to wait if he is having some money problems. There aren't very many good games out right now in my opinion. The only good ones so far in my opinion are NSMBWU and Black Ops 2.

I would say don't get the Basic at all if you have and extra $50. It just doesn't make sense to ditch an extra 24 GB flash, deluxe promo, chargestand, non charging stand, and a game worth $60 just to save $50. You could just sell Nintendo Land or any of the stuff that comes with the dexluxe set for more than what you're saving with the basic set. The only reason why anyone should get basic, is if they prefer white over black.

Is the Wii U worth it? Honestly, not really. I have one but this will probably be the last system I buy. There will be plenty of games I am sure I will buy and play over it's lifespan but I prefer retro gaming anyway.
To blessed to be stressed.
