Topic: Is the Wii U getting the older brother treatment and being forgotten compared to the "New" 3DS

Well it seems to me that Is the case. Nintendo don't have a problem advertising the "New" 3DS but when it comes to the Wii U. There's hardly anything. I mean Is the Wii U getting the big brother treatment? By that I mean All attention being focused on the new baby. Has the Wii U become forgotten all the sudden? Would be nice to get half the games that appear on the 3DS but nooooooo we don't get nearly enough of what the 3DS family get.

Am I just being paranoid? or am I onto something?

stands to reason - the 3DS is a success, the Wii U is the biggest turkey since the Virtual Boy and on the verge of being unsalvageable if it isn't already. Why send good money after bad? I guess they've already written the Wii U off and are putting their efforts, beyond already announced games, into the next console or the 3DS.

It's a shame as they have really returned to form as a game developer recently.

I don't intend to sound mean when I say this... But is this thread a joke? Like, seriously. Complaining about Wii U marketing but making a freaking thread about the Wii U getting the "brother" treatment?! The Wii U is actually being sold for a profit, multiple HUGE games coming this year, the N3DS needs to sell so that's why Nintendo is pushing it so hard which is ironic, etc.... This year's E3 will most likely focus almost entirely on the Wii U... AGAIN.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

At the moment the 3DS has 3-4 big games on the way in the next 2 months. The Wii U schedule is pretty dry at the moment. I would imagine Nintendo will promote Splatoon, Xenoblade, Star Fox and Zelda big time this year, but without them I don't think the Wii U has anything new to change people's minds to buy it from seeing an advert yet.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

? What "big" games for 3DS??? Most 3DS only users are crying for more games. Wii U also has Yoshi, Devil's 3rd and Mario Party 10 and Shigeru's projects that hopefully turn out well. I don't understand... Wii U has the bigger and vastly more hyped games than 3DS abd that's no offense to 3DS.

I'm guessing remakes are being included so Majora's Mask 3D, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and something else.

It's the launch week of the New 3DS, it has Zelda, Monster Hunter and Ironfall coming out whilst the Wii U has Mario Party coming out next month and the last game out was Captain Toad in Dec so yes, at this moment Ninty are advertising the New 3DS right now more than the Wii U.

Now I'm gonna post in the "Ninty are advertising the new Wii U Kirby game wrong as I don't like the commerical I saw telly" thread.

Nintendo is just releasing the New 3DS and they are advertising it? When you launch something new you don't advertise it! What are they thinking!?

Wii U is even technically getting its own amiibo line with Mario Party 10. Zelda and X seem like huge games (in every sense of the word) and Splatoon looks like a great new IP, being pushed a lot more than STEAM, even if it releases after it.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

While the release schedule works fine for me, given all the games I have and budget, there's not a ton of new stuff to promote. Mario Party will be a big seller, at least relatively speaking. wii party u actually put up respectable numbers.

Sadly, I think the failure of the wii u is a marketing and advertising issue more than anything.

The Wii U has had the spotlight for awhile now. If anything, the 3DS is just now getting it's fair share of attention...
Now if there were some actual game announcements we'd be good

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

There have been way more taxing situations, so your comments don't really make sense, and that's beside that Nintendo has way more money which can get them out of situations like this. Seeing as how Microsoft and Sony operate, why even complain about what Nintendo is doing?

They already said they aren't moving onto a new console countless times, already. The Wii U is basically being sent out and riding out this entire generation for as far as Xbox One and PS4. If people are already choosing Xbox or PS over Nintendo, they already don't want Wii U. So, why would they buy the next console if they didn't already buy the current one, and then there's another one? That's why it doesn't make sense.

The New 3DS is getting attention, because it's, you know, new. The Wii U has been out for over two years now, and it's already established.

Well the Wii U got more attention for the last 6 months. Now they seem to be about 50:50. Of course they're advertising the new3DS console more. It's new. Advertising the Wii U would be meaningless. I'm betting they'll have a fairly large ad campaign planned for Splatoon though.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

His comment is fine, the Wii U may be making a profit now per unit but its hardly flying off shelf's each month like the PS4 and to a lesser extent Xbone which is why currently they're pushing what is moving good numbers aka the 3DS.

His comment is fine, but it doesn't make sense. Last time I checked, Nintendo was still making more money than both Microsoft and Sony from Wii U, and that's what they are going based off of; not sales numbers.

That may have changed, but the fact remains that Nintendo is still making money, and that ultimately matters more than if PS4 sells another million consoles next week and doesn't make a dime. I actually don't know if that is the case, for the time being, but that has happened. People are buying PS4s, but there isn't a software attach ratio to back it up.

I can't relate since I'm the youngest ... ^^ Joking aside, the New3DS is a new product, as the name suggests, so it's natural that it would get the lion share of the advertisement budget in the month it is launched.
Also, the 3DS sells better, and so will the New3DS. Ads for it, at this time are probably just way more cost-effective. TBH, I don't know with that they would advertise for the WiiU at this point in time. The N3DS coincides with Majoras Mask and Monster Hunter, so there is that to work with, what new games has the WiiU to offer, which could be advertised?
I think once Splatoon gets to the shelfs we will see more of a push by Nintendo.

Also, people still watch actual TV with ads and stuff? I mean, I guess so, it's really just kind of strange, like something from my childhood. Like in the 90s when you had to get up "early" on a Saturday to catch cartoons. Makes me almost nostalgic!

I actually agree with the OP. More people know about 3DS, so they are pushing to get it into more peoples' hands than who already have it. The Wii U is more for people who actually understand technology, specifically in comparison to 3DS. That's always how it has been for Nintendo hardware, besides Wii. Technologically inclined people don't need advertising to understand these things, which is what they are going off of, from my perspective.

If there's no marketing of Mario Maker, Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Zelda U this year, and all focus is on the New 3DS at the upcoming E3, you're onto something.
