Is it a failure? Although the Wii U have been sold at lot due to Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8. But there's no denying that the Wii U still have bad sales. Plus, Nintendo is making a new console that will soon make the Wii U useless to get. (Just like what happened to 3DS due to the New 3DS.)
And the lack of virtual console, indies and original Wii U download only games makes Eshop sorta useless. So, tell me in not a fan boyish or Nintendrone way. Is the Wii U a failure?

yes it is easily a commercial faliure but out of all systems ive ever owned (ps2 xbox 360 wii u) i would consider this the best system
The NX is going to be delayed to Holiday 2017 you heard it here first, also It should be pretty obvious what my favorite game of all time is cough Skyward Sword cough

I don't see anything that needs a mod attention, there's no trolling or anything the guy is just asking a question. And yes it's staying! Time to troll Wiiu owners with this! I mean i have a normal debate

Okay, first of all, we don't even know anything about the NX, and no, I'm not going to pretend that I know anything about it like some people are. Second, the new 3DS is an upgrade, not a new system, so the point is moot.

Indeed, bad sales relative to every other dudes. TBH a lot of the "console wars" bit is marketing that everyone gets sucked into. If success is measured in those terms then sure, the sales are horrible. But in terms of overall profitability of the platform they'll come out of it with a profit. Especially when you consider the multiple sources of revenue flowing from the Wii U. It's not just hardware sales it's revenue from first party software, licences, and even Amiibo. This digital age makes things even easier for them because there are less costs in distribution! And I don't know about you but I don't measure my enjoyment of a product based on how profitable it is anyways. Either way, I wouldn't call it a failure.

For a start Nintendo are always making a new console. Sony are making one, Microsoft are making one. That's just the nature of the beast. As for the NX well there's nothing that has been said about it at all. We don't even know whether it'll be a portable or a non-portable device. My theory is that it's a handheld device and my reasoning is simple. The Wii U has games all this year and going into 2016, what 3DS games are on the horizon?

The virtual console? It's still better than what the others have to offer given their legacy content by comparison is paper thin. It could be a lot better though. In terms of indies I'm not quite sure what you're asking for. We got Affordable Space Adventures recently, we already have Shovel Knight, Steam World Dig, Bit Trip Runner 2, NES Remix and others. The Banjo-Kazooie re-imagining Yooka-Laylee is on its way, SteamWorld Heist is inevitably also on its way as is I would assume Trine 3. I simply don't agree, the eShop is a pretty vibrant market.

Well, it's as successful as a failure can be, I suppose. Sales have tanked, but by the end of the generation, it'll pretty much just be a wash as far as profitability goes. They could do worse.

Commercially it is. But I love my Wii U and that is what counts for me, so no, it's not a failure for me personally. I don't know what you mean with the lack of Indie games. There are a ton of good Indie games on the eshop.
