Metal Gear. GTA. Residents Evil. FIFA. Madden. PES. Destiny. Far Cry 4. The Witcher III. Batman Arkham Knight. Final Fantasy XV. Kingdom of Hearts III. Tomb Raider. Persona. Silent Hills. Need for Speed. Mass Effect. Star Wars. Battlefield. Dragon Ball Z. Naruto. Call of Duty. You can argue till the cows come running home, but the majority of these if not all are multimillion selling titles, with good quality attached to them (i know that's subjective with one or two but come on!). Missing out on those is beyond sad, less games is never good and it's pathetic to try and justify that.

No, I kinda disagree, the N64, Gamecube, and Wii all had somewhat lacking third party support in one segment or the other, but they also made up for it in other areas, IE, the N64 had a lack of games, but those third party titles were almost all exclusives, the Gamecube had decent third party support throughout, and the Wii, despite technical limitations, had a good deal of support from the 2006-2010 timeframe.

The Wii U is the worst it has ever been.....

I'm only talking about Wii U, the usual routine was in reference to those saying it would make Nintendo work harder.

"They played us like a damn fiddle!" - MGS5
"Finish your mission, prove your loyalty." - MGS3
"We could take a s*** on you from such a height, you'd think God himself has crapped on you!" - GTA: SA

It's not a blessing when you lose out on good games. No library is 100% shovelware. Both DS and Wii had plenty of good 3rd party games to pick up.

By this logic, closing down the mining industry would be a "blessing in disguise." You dig and excavate, and almost everything you find is just dirt and rock. But then you also find gold, silver, and other valuable resources. Just because most of what you find is worthless doesn't make the whole industry worthless.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

No. Have you looked at the eshop or at some of the retail stuff publishers are releasing for it?

Less game sales is never good for Nintendo, but for a primarily 'Nintendo type' gamer the lack of dude bro style games doesn't really mean that much. I know in the first year drought where I ran out of Nintendo titles I bought both Assassins Creeds and Mass Effect 3 for something to play, and proved to myself I don't like those sort of games. You've just bought a £300 or so console and you must justify it with games. This year with those sort of games not being released I looked at the eshop, and thought: 'Ooh, the Cave, that looks good. So does Stick It To The Man'. I also got Dr Luigi and Earthbound, and will probably get Toki Tori next. My sort of games. Shovel Knight? Yes please!

The truth is even if those big games were on the system, I could still go the eshop route, but what I'm trying to say is the triple AAA come with a large amount of hype and marketing that it's easy to get caught up in. When I think back to the SNES, Wii or PS1 or PS2, I think about the amount of games I bought that were substandard, played with for an hour then put in a cupboard. And that experience muddies my memories of the good stuff. Whereas the Wii U is shaping up to be my favourite console of all time because of it's high percentage of quality. I bought a Wii U because it's built on Nintendo and top tier Japanese product.

Limited 3rd party good for business? No way.
Limited party good for my own personal memories of the Wii U? Most definitely.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

That list is missing a lot of good stuff too.

Shadow of Mordor. Alien: Isolation. The Evil Within. Lords of the Fallen. Assassin's Creed Unity. Dragon Age: Inquisition. Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. Tropico 5. Grand Theft Auto V. Guilty Gear Xrd. The Wolf Among Us. The Walking Dead: Season Two. Evolve. SOMA. Mortal Kombat X. The Division.

And a bunch of others I can't remember right now. This situation can't be good for anyone...

Wii U probably would have never gotten those games unless Xbox and PS fans started buying Wii U over PS and Xbox, though. I don't even know how all of those games are going to sell, honestly. That looks like more games than what people have money for. Xbox One has sold around the same amount of games that PS4 has, and it has half as many console sales.

We do know how most of them will sell. Games like Destiny, Evil WIthin, Assassin's Creed, Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider, Dragon AGe, Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid, Wolf Among Us, The Division, Alien: Isolation, Call of Duty, Mass Effect, Battlefield,FIFA, MADDEN, Far Cry and most of them listed will be multi million selling successful games. And it'll make MS and Sony millions of dollars while Wii U will be making an unappealing, but modestly acceptable profit on their one major game a year. Bayonetta will probably take years upon years to turn a profit for Platinum much less Nintendo, and Hyrule Warriors is still an either or situation. The only game this year that will probably be a runaway success (besides MK8, back in MAY) is Smash Brothers in November

The Witcher III / Batman Arkham Knight and I suppose GTA5 are all I care about from that list. (And I am willing to spend whatever it takes to run Batman properly on PC no way I want it at 30fps).

The new Doom will be better than any stuff by e.g Ubisoft (Wolfenstein has just shown there are actually still people who do stuff properly).

Plus then there is the Team Fortress style business model Unreal Tournament (That is the most fun type of FPS always has been).

“30fps Is Not a Good Artistic Decision, It's a Failure”
Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.

How would you know that? The average gamer on PS4 will probably buy 2-3 of those games. Most of the sales will probably still happen on Xbox 360 and PS3. EDIT: Also, we don't know what kind of deal Nintendo has with Platinum. I would think all expenses were paid and then some. The game is already profitable for Platinum in that regard, otherwise they wouldn't even do the deal in the first place.

No. Because you'd still get just as many good Nintendo games if the Wii U did have decent 3rd party support.

Shovelware doesn't make the good games less good.

A blessing in disguise? Not at all. A very bad thing with an upside? Yes. Pretty much everything you said is correct. This situation is forcing Nintendo to make sure every one of their titles is a potential system seller, and I am not convinced they are abandoning 3rd parties yet either. They know they need to make games for the 'core' gaming audience in order to sell systems. You might be fooled by all of the side scrollers and family friendly games on Wii U, but I am convinced that they very much want the hardcore gamer back. In fact I think the New 3DS is evidence of that.

How would I know? Because those games always sell millions upon millions. Destiny has set a record for most pre orders. Madden always sells millions or else they wouldn't churn them put every year. Same with assassin's Creed, battlefield, call of Duty, and any Bioware game. I'm not just guessing, those games have proven to be extremely popular. And just because they're releasing close together doesn't mean they are going to sell like junk. I promise you, they're going to be runaway successes regardless of whenever they're released

I am very interested to see how the PS4/XB1 versions of these games sell compared to their respective install base. How much of the install base is picking up how many of these games.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Hahaha exactly.

Based on the early sales//hype/previous entries in those series, it's plain as day to anyone with a working brain cell that all those games are almost 100% guaranteed to sell well and be big hits.
