Topic: Is Nintendo working more with 3rd parties?

Yesterday's Nintendo Direct had a surprisingly large presence from 3rd Parties. Capcom got a devoted time to talk about Monster Hunter. That indie shooter actually took the spotlight for a bit, Puzzles and Dragons got some spotlight, and Namco announced a Wii U exclusive game.

I don't think I've seen this degree of 3rd Party presence in a Nintendo Direct ever. Do you think this is an indication that NIntendo is starting to work more closely with 3rd parties?

Yeah, as far as Western publishers, they have pretty much deserted the 3DS and Wii U.........it has to be Japanese or indie.

It's not as much that they are making games as it is that they were given a serious presence during the direct.

The 3DS has had Japanese 3rd party support for years, but never before were so many 3rd party games given so much time in a general direct (big and indie).

In regards to Project Treasure, it may just be a one off, but the reason I'm pointing it out is because it could also mark the start of a trend.

They seem to be working more with Japanese developers. I believe it is partially because those developers have been struggling in the market recently and Nintendo can give them a different market to work in. I would like to see NoA have more power and work with some American developers but I don't think that will happen.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

NoA has the power just not the leadership to do it. (Example EA getting back on board and staying on board for the Gamecube).

I Think nintendo is work with namco & capcom more because its the last 2 third party companies that want somwthing to do with nintendo. Square is slowly coming back to nintendo one RPG(Bravely default) at a time, and sega sonic thing was a huge failure.

Western developers games are all broken anyway lol.

The only exceptionally lame things about this, is that despite the cooperation with Namco, Tecmo, Sega, and Capcom, all of those said companies still refuse to port any titles whatsoever to the 3DS and Wii U, unless it was made for the Japanese market or in strict cooperation with Nintendo......everything else, be it Street Fighter, Aliens Isolation, the Dynasty and Samurai Warrior titles, Resident Evil, Tekken, Soul Caliber, etc.........are all skipping Nintendo platforms wholesale. It's like a one way street friendship.

I think we need to consider it in terms of steps. Working more closely with Japanese 3rd parties is a step towards working with Western 3rd parties.

That's the sort of thing Nintendo needs to do moe often, giving 3rd parties more Direct presence should help gain interest in their games.
I can understand that Nintendo don't have to help 3rd parties advertise their games, but in the long run by inviting 3rd parties on a Direct presentation it will give the 3rd parties more confidence in working with Nintendo.

Yeah they seem to work more with Japanese 3rd parties so hopefully they continue it and hopefully they fund more things that other publishers are afraid of, look how Bayonetta 2 turned out (its amazing). I cant wait to see what this project treasure thing is (although I kinda wish it was a Treasure developed game).

I wouldn't use EA as the example here...

Honestly, I'm kinda surprised they haven't tried to get a Sim City game. I mean, they own a Sim City character technically, it would make sense.

I'm more surprised that they never bothered with getting Garden Warfare on the Wii U, you'd think a game like that would be perfect on a Nintendo system.
