I'm having problems connecting to Netflix on Wii and on my 3DS it tends to disconnect. I went on Nintendo support and there saying that there network for Wii is fine. As for 3DS. Is anyone having problems?

I just got to the 3DS eShop and then to Miiverse without any problems.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

Yes I am having trouble connecting to Miiverse and eshop. I can usually power cycle the router and it will work for a bit but after awhile it will quit working again. Wii U will say it is connected to Internet but won't access any web based services. It used to never have this problem so I'm not really sure what's going on...annoying as heck though.

I think he meant update the router software, if you haven't already.

Yes. Your internet connection is different from the router itself. Your internet service provider doesn't update your router for you, and routers don't update themselves, from what I've seen.

It's just like updating any other device. Go into your router settings and update it. If your router is maxed out on updates(no longer supported) and it still doesn't work, you need to buy a new one.

Uhh, no, no it's not. Router updates will generally fix bugs and memory management issues, but if his Wii U was working fine with it before, the router firmware is very, very unlikely to be the culprit.

If you haven't already done so, be sure to power cycle both the router and the Wii U itself. Also make sure that the U is actually connecting to your network via Settings.

You're right, but the updates also optimize your current connection. Seriously, Nintendo systems are REALLY picky if your router isn't updated.

I used to play Mario Kart 7 everyday on an old router. One day, it wouldn't connect. I updated the router, and it was good to go. Eventually the router became outdated(no more firmare updates), so I had to go buy another router for it to work.

I've seen Nintendo consoles refuse to connect to routers without the newest firmware. I can pretty much guarantee that he won't have anymore internet issues, if he updates the router and doesn't have any generally useless settings in place.

It's not like updating your router is a bad idea. It optimizes its performance.

only when using my PC for hotspot, what I do often because my 3DS is out of wifi range in my room and the repeater I have isn't compatible with the 3DS for some reason......

Well I did check my router and its fine, my router is brand-new (kind-of) I tried to use my Wii to go on Netflix and it wouldn't let me connect to the internet. As for my 3DS I tried going on the Miiverse and it wouldn't let me connect. So something is clearly going on. I can use my Xbox and right now I'm using my computer because my 3DS can't connect. Either Nintendo is doing something or IDK?

I'm still with SCAR on updating your router. If its brand new, it's probably behind on updates.

Only other advice I'd give you is to check Nintendo's FAQ. We can't exactly tell you much more than whats on there. I recommend writing down the error code and looking it up, it's much faster.

Okay. Then there's nothing we can do. Go to Nintendo's website where you can get some real answers, not a bunch of Nintendo fans who have no idea what you're even talking about, let alone how to actually fix it.

Is Nintendo working on something that maybe is affecting me to connect to the internet?

My Wii and Wii-U consistently lose the wifi connection at least once a month. Nintendo hardware is the only thing that seems to have this issue, and my laptop, iPads and other devices never have this problem.

A week or so ago I changed the settings to give the Wii-U a static IP and DNS and ie had no problems so far.

Well, whenever I try to visit another town in AC;NL I always get the error. Same thing with trading pokemon and purchasing maps in fire emblem.
