I stopped playing online games (Splatoon was the every day game for me) to finish my backlog. I "only" need to finish Plague Knight campaign and play Earthbound Beginnings (hope for Mother 3 on Switch) and most of all, since Xenoblade 2 is coming, i'll play again Xenoblade 1. I really focused a lot on backlog since october reveal and finished almost all of it!

I still have some Wii U games to finish, but will they become GET CLEAR? IDK, but what I do know is that i've spent over 400 hours on Lost Reavers, how that game became one of my most played titles for the Wii U..........TOAST!

I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!

I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!

There is no need to finish or play any game before moving on. I own about 200 games (ds,3ds,wii, wii u and vc). I basically buy the games I want to play and play them when I feel like. However, its very rarely that I start playing a game when I receive it. The older I got the more money I had to buy games but also less time and energy to play. On Saturday I started playing A link to the past and I am loving it. I didnt own the game back in the day and borrowed it once and played until the second medallion. Yesterday I got my third medallion and the master sword after that. Amazing game! I have owned it for VC for over a year now and didnt start playing until recently. Two weeks ago I started playing splatoon, even though I had it resting on my shelves for almost 1,5 years. When Splatoon 2 was announced I thought its finally time to give it a try - and I am liking it! Will definitely get Splatoon 2 one day!
If I had to play through each and every game of my backlog in order to move - I think moving on would never happen!
In fact, I wouldnt even call it moving on - but rather adding something new to what I already own and never plan on selling, unless I would absolutely need to.

It really is... the core of the industry and its fanbase, and I think Reggie and Nintendo always tried to tell people - "what on Earth are you talking about?", but somehow a lot of the focus of the fanbase is always on E3 and the releases and the reviews and not on playing the games themselves.

It depends how you look at it. There has been great games on the Wii U. No doubt about that. But there were also droughts. VC games are not really taken into account as these are old games - not even remade, but yes, they are there and provide lots of hours of gameplay.
In the end there could have been so much more, personally I would have loved to see two more years of support from nintendo, but well...

I wonder what the first game to be bundled with the switch will be. I wonder if Christmas next year will have a Mario Kart bundle?

Part of me waiting is also hoping I will be able to get it for cheaper. I was able to stack a few different coupons and discounts simultaneously and paid less than $150 for my Wii U.

Good point, well made.

My main complaint was how the system was abandoned so abruptly. I still have a decent amount of games to play. But I will get the Switch very close to launch bc it looks so cool.

My backlog is so huge that I just have to accept that I will never finish it. But my realistic goals before diving into the Switch are:
1. Finish A Link to the Past on Wii U Virtual Console (I never played this before and am currently in Ganon's Tower, so I can almost cross this one off the list.)
2. Play through A Link Between Worlds on 3DS before starting Breath of the Wild (I am traveling next week, so I should be able to make good progress on the plane and in my hotel room)
3. Play through Xenoblade Chronicles on WIi
4. Play through Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U

I recently completed DKC Tropical Freeze, Affordable Space Adventures, Runbow, Human Resource Machine, and Spheroids. I'll try to beat some more Wii U games before the SWITCH comes out, but since Fire Emblem Heroes came out a couple of days ago I haven't turned on my Wii U.

I got my Wii U in mid 2015, so I still have plenty of gems such as Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong, Pikmin 3, Captain Toad, Yoshi's Woolly World, etc. to play through. That's not even counting Breath of the Wild. So while I probably won't get a Switch until late 2018 due to career stuff (I don't want shiny new hardware to distract me), I think I'll have plenty of games to play in the meantime.

I don't think I'll get around to playing Paper Mario Colour Splash by the 3rd March.
Fully focused on passing my driving theory test before BoTw comes along, otherwise I'll never get it done 😂

My only question is whether it's worth it or not to pick up Switch titles I know I'll eventually buy like Zelda, Mario Kart and Odyssey on release to get the 20% off discount Amazon offers. It'll realistically be 2+ years before I get a Switch but Nintendo first party games never drop in price unless they go Selects in which case someone will give me plenty for my first print.

Funny thing though, I only buy Wii/Wii U titles new because I'm senile over disc scratches but I have zero issue buying came cartridges for the 3DS used and without the case.

@Dreamliner Recent experience has shown me that Selects bring the used price of an original print crashing down. Seems not enough people are bothered about the case cover to sustain a higher price.

Is that Amazon offer US only or is it in the UK too?

@gcunit If I don't have a Switch wo I wouldn't be opening the games. I sold Windwaker HD for buku bucks as soon as I heard the Selects version was coming. I didn't get around to playing it so was still sealed. When the Selects version came out I picked it up and pocketed the difference...still haven't opened it.

I figure I could do that again if a Switch title goes Selects before I play it. So far, we're only talking 3 games over the next 12 months and unless Nintendo comes out with another Metroid or StarFox game, probably the only 3 for quite some time.

No idea if its in UK. I have Amazon Prime, when I preorder any video game, it's automatically discounted 20% when I check out.

I've had Zelda Wii U preordered for over a year. I'm going to cancel it for the Switch version.
