Steam machines wont take off unless Valve make their own. All the other companies need to make a decent profit off the hardware. Sony/MS/Nintendo take losses from the hardware and gain it back through software sales. Valve could do this since most people would use Steam to purchase the games. But by doing this, the other manufacturers wouldnt be able to compete.
I will say the alienware alpha is a very slick device. The onboard gpu is the only thing really holding it back. If they put out new motherboards with better gpus in the future, that would be a very intriguing system.

Well, you can save a lot of money, skipping that buggy OS. And the performance, with Windows you can't ever dream about good performance.

You can save a little money, and you would be doing yourself no favours in doing so.

Funny how that Steamlink-kajigger that they sell themselves makes the whole SteamOS thing that they're pushing themselves obsolete.

People still just don't get it.

Exclusives don't have that much significance, not on their lonesome.

Well they are the only reason for me to have a Wii U (And a pretty good one as far as I am concerned).

Good reason? Sure. 9 million Wii Us in 2+ yrs versus PS4 & X1 20m & 10m 1+ yr, it's not a good enough one in the grand scheme of things.

And on the other hand, it sold 9 million because of Nintendo's software. Otherwise it would have been a complete flop
