Honestly why not a proper battle mode DLC with 6 new characters (3 Veterans and 3 Newcomers).
I'd rather have another 3 tracks than any of that. I mean, does anyone ever play battle mode? With friends / family? I always just race in the racing game, battle mode feels so aimless... Ideally they could patch it so you had to keep speeding around the track in opposite directions so as to emphasis battling while still maintaining the appeal of the game; racing.
Plenty of people play battle mode how it was meant to be (i.e. involving battle arenas). With the use of just standard tracks, battle mode becomes pointless because most of the time everyone is far away.
Airship Fortress would be a great one to bring back but going with the trend, they're most likely going to choose a completely new retro track or one that was in Mario Kart DS.
Before you get your hopes up, nothing has been announced. So it's really a misnomer to be talking about what's "most likely", when as far as we're aware, nothing else is planned.
We haven't even had a hint that suggests otherwise so far, so we can hardly form predictions here. We're all just dreaming as it stands today, forming our own wishlists.
Correcting myself, since this does hint that what we're all hoping for, is going to be the case.

Exactly. I actually like the way the battle mode is now, I just want actual arenas to play in and I'm good. It's literally the only DLC I want at this point.
