I'm sure most of you have seen Miyamoto's quote about the next 3D Mario being "in the vein of Super Mario Galaxy." Now I know this doesn't confirm Galaxy 3, and Galaxy (1) was a good game and all, but I would be THE MOST UPSET I've ever been with a game if Nintendo announced a Galaxy 3. Let me explain... I like Sunshine, and 64 the best, but i"m not expecting another one of those for the next game. I do think 3D world was better than the Galaxy games, but it wasn't perfect. Galaxy one was good, i liked the look of the game, and the themes of the levels, but those controls... I hate them, they are not fun at all. Wayyyyy too slow, and floaty. The game feels so slow, the games always felt off, and I only recently discovered that the controls were why i didn't like the game as much. I would actually be fine if there was a galaxy 3 if it had 3D world's great controls, and hopefully more open worlds. That quote just makes me worry. I feel like somewhere along the way Nintendo may have forgotten that Galaxy was supposed to be in the line of Sunshine and 64, and not a separate line of games. I guess we won't know until the game is revealed.
My reasons for not wanting a Galaxy 3 are completely different, just because the fact that I want something fresh and original, why I liked 3D world so much.

Mario Galaxy, 3D World and 64 are the best 3D Mario games! A sequel to either is welcome.
But Galaxy 3 would be epic! That's what the Galaxy games always were - EPIC
I wouldn't worry about a Mario game, it's bound to be good. Mario games are always quality titles. I'd just be worried about it coming out too soon since it really feels like we're just getting a continuous dose of Mario.

Considering the first two are two of my favourite games of all time, I'll gladly take a third, but I'd also like a sequel to Sunshine or something new.
I just picked up Galaxy 2 as I missed it on Wii and its far better than 3D World and that is saying something as that game is incredible. Saying that Lego City Undercover is the game that has taken up most of my time since Christmas.
Worrying can't add one inch to your stature, nor can it add one hair to your head.
Just go with the flow, and let the masters do what they do best. They've been entertaining us for 30 years. I trust they'll continue to do so...

think like this, the worst that can happen is the next 3D Mario becoming like Sonic '06 so if it turns to be Galaxy 3 it's not as bad...

Have Nintendo ever made a bad Mario game? Admittedly the NSMB franchise was a bit uninspired, but I always felt it was made to run alongside Nintendo's more daring work.
There are a lot more games to worry about before the Mario franchise in my opinion, and not many are made by Ninty.
Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

Mario is Missing was pretty bad.
But besides that, this is Nintendo. I wouldn't worry about them at all.

Mario was missing was not a main-stream mario title, it was a spin off.
I would love Galaxy 3 (thought that was coming out, then found out it was 3DW), but the games seem to have run dry of ideas. Maybe a new 2d title, like SMb3? Something that epic would suit me fine. Also, the NSMB series were awesome with friends, but by yourself, were not as good.
I'm fine with anything really..Nintendo hasn't really bad a bad 3D Mario game yet (3D Land was the worst so far, but even that wasn't all that bad)
Galaxy 3, Sunshine 2, Mario 64...2..., or something completely new...I don't really care, I think Nintendo will continue to make enjoyable 3D Mario games.
i really don't think they will make a super mario galaxy 3 there's only so much stuff you can do in space before it get's old while super mario galaxy 2 is still one of the wii's best games it was still nowhere near the greatness the original was
