implying a major Nintendo console (or almost any gaming system in 2012) has no good games.

Ok seriously, I went to /v/ like twice and stuff like this makes me wonder if I really did leave.

In my experience, most consoles don't have a good library of video games until more than a few years in. I'm not going to buy one and have it sit around for years collecting dust while waiting for the killer app I need to justify the purchase (as has happened with my 3DS). Especially if there is a possibility of a price drop/redesign in the coming years. I don't wanna play ports of PS3 games when I could just get them on my PS3.

Edit: Not to mention, 'goodness' is subjective. Some people might find more rehashing of the 'new' super mario bros series to be a 'good' thing. Well, more power to them.

I'm waiting for games and to see whether or not the console is successful.

Exactly. Not everyone is going to be excited for the Wii U, not everyone wants a sure thing. Call it the gambler in me but I believe some of us want to spend money on something with impossible odds stacked against its future. Something that is so poised to fail that if it sells out this Christmas, Hollywood could create an inspirational movie about it. Something like the Playstation Vita.

It adds the GamePad, granted. But the remote has been carried forward, which is surely what makes the Wii?

@pntjr: Well, the fact that the Wii U is already selling at a loss should be the first, unlike the 3DS was initially.

The second is the amount of consumer demand that has been accumulated with the Wii U, showing the price point is something the majority of consumers are comfortable with, unlike with the 3DS' initial situation.
