I think that there's lots of room for improvement on the Wii Remote. If it had either a stick on the Wii remote or Motion Plus in the Nunchuck, there are actually a lot more things you could do with it. Imagine actually having a pair of hands you can manipulate in 3 dimensional space and close the hands by pressing the triggers. You could intuitively pick up and use a sword on the ground in Zelda left over from a fallen enemy, or release the button and throw it like you would actually throw something in the real world. You could climb in a platformer like Donkey Kong (he has longer arms than Mario), putting one hand over the other in order to move up a vertical surface like vines or a ladder. Then there's the advantage of having two sticks with a motion setup, allowing you to look in one direction and aim in another, much like in Resident Evil 4 for the Wii, but without disabling your movement in order to do so. Of course, this type of controller has even more advantages if we're talking VR, with you able to control your head, torso, legs, and each hand intuitively and independent of one another, but I'd say Nintendo still has another console to release before they get to that.
