I know some detail was given as to how 2 player will be in SFU, but I can't remember what it was they said. So I'm not sure if I just thought of this idea myself or if I'm just remembering what they said, lol, but either way I thought the idea was really fun so I want to get others' take on it.

A game like this will be perfect to take advantage of 2 screens. Player one controls a vehicle, let's say a tank on the ground, or helicopter in the air. Through one screen, either the TV or gamepad, he sees out the window of the vehicle and is in charge of shooting down the other tanks, helicopters, planes, etc. ala Starfox 64's basic gameplay.

The 2nd player, however, controls some sort of gunman (like how helicopters have the gun on the side or jeeps have it on the top, etc.) and he is in charge of a completel different subset of enemies, such as ground troops, other soldiers hanging off the vehicles like he is, etc.

With this style of gameplay, both players are doing something completely separate from each other, meaning it can ONLY be done on a 2 screen setup, taking advantage of the hardware. On the other hand, although the other player has a different set of enemies, you are complementing each other while clearing the battlefield, and if you clear out all your enemies temporarily, you can turn you weapon and start helping the other player.

Like I said, if this is the plan anyways then sorry. I hope it is. I'm sure Shiggy would make it ten times better than I'm making it sound but I can just imagine the epicness and it's exploding my brain.

Thoughts?

I like that. Even if one player was driving while the other shoots, it could still work. Mario Kart Double Dash certainly proved it. MKDD is the only game one of siblings still plays on my GameCube, and only through co-op.

I also see possibly an expanded version of what Star Fox 2 and Command tried to do: a strategic sortie. The difference this time is that you control two ships independently, and work together to clear the map separately, kind of like how the Musou games do co-op.
