^old videogame commercials were awesome! they looked so exagerated and so funny it made people want to part of the fun!

Agreed! Now look at the television commercial for this game...

It shows a bunch of 7-9 year old boys and girls playing the game together and with parents, and in one scene an older sister blocks the tv so the little dweeb has to play on the gamepad.

How does that appeal to teenage boys or older gamers? It doesn't. It looks like a corny ad for a kids toy/game!

I watched the Mario Sunshine and Mario Galaxy commercials too, and those were balanced commercials that were appealing to everyone. With the Wii-U marketing, Nintendo has seemed to go after children exclusively.

What bothered me more was the "Use the Wii U gamepad for this"

I thought the commercial with Andre and Stephie Graff was very good.

Looks like Nintendo is finally starting to spend some money on marketing!

In the past few days I've seen more Nintendo ads on TV than I have in the previous nine months. Saw multiple Super Mario 3D World commericals last night during a hockey game, and caught a few more Mario and Zelda ads on other various specialty channels as well. I'm also seeing more Nintendo ads and banners on websites, so hopefully this increased effort pays off for them.

I am very disappointed with Nintendo marketing in my country. I've started to see many tv ads for Wii... Mini. Where is Wii U? Don't they want to sell the new console? The only logical explanation is that they figured out with the crisis and all were going through, it's going to be very difficult to sell a €300 console, so they gave up on that and emphasize the budget priced Wii Mini at €109 with Wii Sports and Sports Resort. And Super Mario Galaxy for an extra €5. If only Mini supported progressive scan, I could actually recommend such a deal to some friends. The thought of playing Galaxy on a big screen without component haunts me.

PS: I live in Portugal, right in the middle of the European sovereign debt crisis hurricane, if anyone is wondering.

Still haven't seen any Wii U commercials since August, but I did see an ad for the free trial of Wii Fit U on knowyourmeme.com. It had pretty good real estate too as it was directly under the search bar. And in the midst of all the Xbox and PlayStation commercials, I did see an ad for A Link Between Worlds during South Park. Nintendo should try to get some Wii U ad's back on there as well.
