"Gimmick" is a word that's had a negative connotation for every man, woman, and child currently living - so don't pull out the "it's not technically a negative word" argument, it makes you look a tad silly. The gamepad is awesome and it totally different from anything consoles have offered thus far, and calling it a "gimmick" takes away from that genuine innovation that is since being copied by both major competitors.
I don't actively "thank" Nintendo, but boy am I glad they are still around and making games. They are a nice balancing factor between the other two behemoths, and their nearly 100% focus on games and nothing else is refreshing in a world that slowly seems to be placing more value on Netflix and NFL apps than good old-fashioned gaming.
I thank Nintendo everyday for being the reason I want to become a game developer!

I don't thank nintendo. What have they done for me. All they make are lame videogames that get in the way of real life.

I'm thankful to Nintendo for continuing to believe that games can be fun and engaging without relying on the grotesque violence and borderline pornography that most other forms of entertainment, including much of the video game industry, now rely on.
I'm thankful for all the Nintendo fans who think when anyone says something negative about Nintendo that they are trolling. No seriously, thanks you for fanboys. Thanks you so much, they are fun people.

Well honestly for me I thank Nintendo for giving me something awesome to do at home when I was a kid instead of being out in the streets at night. I'm forever grateful for that
Only on the internet is "loyalty" a bad word. Brand loyalty has been around since the terms "consumer" and "goods" became commonplace. People are loyal to restaurants, dishwasher brands, local produce, sports teams, etc. It's not silly to be loyal to a console brand - you like their stuff, and so you're inclined to defend them if they're attacked.
Nothing.... except for pokemon, but that's mainly Gamefreak, which is interesting because some people are not too aware of that....
Thier consoles always seem to disapoint me. They seem promising but I usually feel like it's missing something.

There's loyalty and then there's insanity. I think we all know which side this is...
Now that we've made that distinction, to continue you're completely off-topic rant, You talk like being loyal to a corperation that cares nothing for your well being is in any way admirable. A consumer has to vote with his/her wallet, and if your vote says "I'll keep buying your product even when there are better ones", how exactly is that in anyway beneficial to you? Granted, I don't believe that's what "loyalty" is, but that's where a lot of people take it. And just because a lot of people do something doesn't mean its okay. That's where you have to think for yourself and realize that what people are doing may not be the smartest thing.
And lastly, while it depends on the circumstances (if they have their facts wrong and it would be of benefit to them to know the truth), you generally shouldn't be inclined to fend a company when they're "attacked", just because you "like their stuff". It's the company's stuff, not yours, not your friend's, not anyone who means anything to you. They can defend themselves, they have people for that - Advertisers, PR guys, and many others. Why would they need you to defend them, what benefit would it bring to you? What benefit would it bring to them? Most of these "attacks" tend to be verbal expressions of opinion, what's to defend them from? Not to mention the most you can do, so long as there's nothing to correct, is to express your own opinion, which could easily do jack squat. Absolutely none of it makes any sense, so why bother?
