Whenever I start the Wii U, the Quick Start menu pops up and offers a selection of games to play immediately (as usual) but it's always the same selection of games that I've already beaten, so I would like to switch them to more current games that I'm playing. How do I do this? I keep searching and searching with no direct answer.
Really? Huh. From my experience with the menu, it usually shows the games you've most recently played, so it should be showing those more current games that you've been playing... I got nothing. Sorry, dude. ^^;
Formerly MickeyTheGreat and MickMick. Now I'm Mickey again!
Yeah cause the games that show up are ones like Skylanders Swap Force and Game & Wario, games I haven't played in months. While I've been playing Shovel Knight, Guacamelee, and Ittle Dew like crazy and they never show up on the menu.
Games you often play will be shown in the quick start menu. Unless Nintendo make an update to add an option to change titles in quick start setting, there's nothing else you can do about it.
Edit: so it isn't working anyway? Have you been turning off the system properly?
If you just do a "hard turn off" after playing the games (unplug the system, press the off button for more than 5 seconds) your list of games won't update.

I believe that the quick start menu is a standby mode feature, are you sure it is turned on?
