Topic: How much do you actually use backwards compatability?

The Wii U and 3DS both have backwards compatibility built in, so gamers like you and I can play games from last gen. It's a nice feature that the XB1 and pS4 don't offer, but how often do you truly use it?

Tbh, I don't use it much. It's nice to have, but I don't use it often at all.

On 3DS a lot. On Wii U not, because I have Wii hooked up, but I play cube games from time to time.

Very often, since it lets me clear up room to hook up another game system.

I hate the backwards compatibility on the 3DS XL. (So much that I bought a DSi XL to play the stack of games I bought to play on the 3DS XL).

Don't imagine I will use it on my Wii U either. (I have both a USA and PAL Wii and VC all over both). I use the Gamecube backwards compatibility.

Just this week I played:

  • Super Mario Galaxy2
  • Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn
  • Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny
  • Puzzle Kingdoms

I'm always popping in older games. I also break out my Gamecube, N64, Gameboy Advance, and PS1 from time to time.

Every few days, I am going through some Wii gems I didn't buy when they released such as Punch Out and Little Kings Story.

I also play Smash Bros Brawl with my brother on weekends so I'm not completely useless when the new one releases later this year.

I am an avid monster hunter player that started quite recently on Ultimate, (Blue Rath Armor currently) the gameplay just keeps me coming back for more!

I only really use it on my DS Lite to play GBA games.

I also use my PS3 for PSOne disc games a lot, too, even though I have a PS2 I can use. Those virtual memory cards are endlessly helpful.

I don't use it that often on my Wii U because we still have a Wii hooked up. The only reason for keeping the Wii on the main TV is because Netflix on Wii U doesn't support accounts yet - if that update happens, so that our kids can watch their own shows on their own account, then we're moving over to Wii U entirely and backwards compatibility will be a huge factor for me.

On 3DS, I've probably got about a 75/25 split for DS/3DS games... so it's a pretty big deal there.

I use it alot. In fact its one reason I still have a GBA SP (To play my GB games on) Original DS (To play my GBA games on and one reason I never upgraded to the DSi. That made me mad that they got rid of the GBA slot for a stupid camera), and a PS2 (to play PS games on).

I also play DS games on my 3DS and Gamecube games on my Wii.

Not much I just wait for the remakes and VC releases. Bring on Kirby mass attack Wii U VC!

I use it quite a bit. I use it for Wii games, and the games I had on Wii VC (that are saved to my SD card).

You can pry my bassoon from my cold dead fingers!

I played all my Gamecube games on my Wii, I now play all of my Wii games on my Wii U (apart from Brawl for GC support), and I play all my DS games on my 3DS. Backwards compatibility is very useful to me.

Haven't used backwards compatibility on the Wii U yet... don't ask why. I still have the Wii set up for whatever reason. It's one of those weird things you do and you don't know why.
The 3DS I've used quite a bit for DS games... but my DS Lite has a better battery life than my 3DS, so it is still kicking around.

I play VC games through BC nearly every day. I tremendously enjoy propping up the Gamepad and lounging back with a Wiimote or CC to frolic through my VC collection in Off-TV play. Can't even watch TV or movies anymore because why wouldn't I play an NES or TG16 or SNES or Genesis or Neo Geo or Arcade game at the same time?

Actually, some of the WiiWare gems still keep me coming back, as well. That includes La Mulana, World of Too, Motoheroz, the Rebirth series, MaBoShi, Tomena Sanner, Cubello, Mr Driller W, FF: MLDK, BM: Overdrive, MDK (love those Wiimote controls), and so on. Beleaguered service that produced a fair share of memorable content in hindsight.

The only BC I don't use as much are Wii discs, but that's mostly because I still have two Wiis that I use to play Wii games with my kids. I sure appreciated the feature when I needed to get my fill of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom online before the service was shuttered...

All the time. I have several DS and Wii games that I still play quite often.

I didn't buy a Wii last gen, so there are some wii games that I have now (or want to get my hands on in the near future). Also, I bought some wiimotes and classic controllers at a discount price when I lived in Japan.
