So yeah simple question just wondering what you guys think I've never played an Animal Crossing game in my life when it's my 16th birthday in September I'm going to be getting Animal Crossing and a 3ds but now that the 3ds one is out when do you think we will see an Animal Crossing game for the Wii U?

Since City Folk didn't turn out too well... Never? I think Nintendo might focus on only handheld Animal Crossing.

Why did it not turn out well?

If Nintendo deems it worthwhile (and continues with home console Animal Crossing games), I'd give it 2 years or so.

But as said above, they might decide not to make any more for home systems, since the series is just so much better suited for handhelds. In that case, one might never come to the Wii U...

Animal Crossing outsold Skyward Sword.

If they are only continuing franchises that sold more than AC, Zelda is in trouble. lol

From what I understand, it got mediocre reviews, fans complained that it was too similar to Wide World, and it didn't sell nearly as much as Nintendo expected it too. Also, as far as I can tell, the Wii Speak bundle cost Nintendo a lot of money and very few people were interested in it. I got my Animal Crossing + Wii Speak bundle for 9.99 because it didn't sell and retailers had to put them in bargain bins.

I wonder how much they were expecting then because it outsold the GC version, not counting the Nintendo Select version for the Wii. With it being in the top 20 selling games for Nintendo, it would be hard to imagine we don't see it in the six or seven or however many years the Wii U is being supported.

Since they can likely get a revived IP to around the five million mark anyway, they should focus these efforts towards something like an F-Zero. I'd be fine with leaving AC on handhelds if they use these resources towards something productive.

I know I wont be buying it.
Animal Crossing works best on handhelds, and it's the kind of game you only need one copy of.

Well considering New Leaf came out in Japan in September of 2011, I'd say we are in for a 2-3 year wait.

A couple years at best. We haven't heard anything about it, so it'll take some time.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

With the success that New Leaf is having at the minute Nintendo would be mad not to bring a version to the Wii U. They seem to be marketing New Leaf really well (just seen another TV ad for it) and if they do that for the Wii U version it should also sell well. Like others have said though - not until 2015/2016.

Nintendo has proved recently that it is keeping the series around by adding the Villager to Smash Bros. They will definitely bring one to the Wii U, think about it. The series started on consoles, and they can include way more than on a handheld system. Plus with Miiverse, it would be easy to get more social interaction as well.
I'd say like the others, 2015-2016. If they are smart that's the earliest. People need a chance to play New Leaf, and then have a break from the series.

I think it works much better as a handheld/portable game. That said, I never played the original console versions.
