Yes because having differnces over something as trvial as games is a good idea.

How about joining more student groups or rush a frat. Your always going to have people that don't like Nintendo of video games in general.

WAT!

Well, your first red flag is that your friend has an Xbox One. While this doesn't prove anything, it's a sign, for sure.
Your second warning sign is that they're playing Titanfall on their Xbox One (rather than on a 360, which they likely had before they had an Xbox One.) If they got their new system for Titanfall, then this proves that they don't know when a console is worth something, in the first place, as they just paid something close to $600 for one game.
Your third warning sigh is that he used the term "real console." This is a classic indicator that someone is a waste of time to talk to. If you think there's really such a classification as "REAL" anything (most notably "REAL metal" and "REAL hardcore gamer"), then there's no point trying to explain anything. You've made up your mind on fanboyism, and nothing will ever change that.

After these three, you should just stop talking to this person for about a decade and see if they've wised up. Most likely, they won't, but it's always nice to give them a second chance and hope that they grow up.

Mind you, I'm not saying "ditch your friends." They're your friends! That'd be a douchey thing to do! Instead, you should just avoid anything Nintendo-related when you're around them, and if it does come up, don't let it get to you. Ignore their rebuttal, as it's most likely illogical nonsense, to begin with.

@UGXWolf Well, yeah, he did have a 360 and still does. He even has Call of Duty Ghosts on both platforms because none of his friends has an Xbox One yet, so he plays with them on the 360.

Backwards compatibility is usually another thing that I get into debates with them on. To them, backwards compatibility doesn't matter because they're rereleasing some games (Last of Us and Tomb Raider, for example) on the PS4/One. I point out that why not just put the hardware in to be able to do backwards compatibility and it goes to how "The Wii didn't have any games worth playing for backwards compatibility to mean anything." Whatever, though. They can pay $60 for a game they bought 5 months ago and I'll just pop in my old disks as opposed to setting up the old system again or having a billion cords and cables everywhere.

Again, if they don't realize they're being ripped off, there's no point explaining it to them. Nintendo's awesome for making durable systems that don't go out of their way to eat more money out of your wallet than is necessary. I love this approach, but some people may just prefer to get the game again, though I have no idea why they would.

Also, Double Dash, Melee, Sunshine, and Windwaker are all sitting on a shelf somewhere laughing at these guys for saying that the backwards compatibility doesn't get used.

Buy a 1 pound bag of these bad boys, set it out in front of them the next time you are all gaming and say, "here I got you some candy". Sugar-free gummy bears have the same effect on the stomach as a strong laxative, and if they eat more than a handful I guarantee you they'll be on the toilet for the next three hours. Then you can laugh quietly to yourself while you enjoy some great Nintendo games

read this excellent review! It's hilarious to read on it's own, should be great for any morons.

If this wasn't so gosh darn expensive. I would be all over this!

This thread isn't about Mormons, and the Watchtower is a Jehovah's Witness pamphlet.

Anyways, glad my diarrhea inducing gummy bears idea is so popular It's definitely worth a few laughs guys!

Next time they say Nintendo is not a real console, I would just say - that's not what your mom said last night! (or sister)

Joking aside, best way to do it is fact check'em.

For example, ask what the X1 or PS4 can do that the wii u cannot. When they say you can watch blu-ray movies, upload videos, watch youtube, connect to facebook, etc., you conclude that none of that has anything to do with gaming. Therefore Nintendo IS not only a gaming console, it's a DEDICATED GAMING CONSOLE.

Secondly...Avatars, motion sports games, 2nd screen use, additional controller types, all were Nintendo innovations that the "big" two keep borrowing and copying. The FACTS are that PS has had the same crappy controller design since the first one launched, (way too small for my hands and uncomfortable still), there motion controller went no where, MS Kinect was a fail, I don't know anyone who uses it.

Gaming wise, even their games are getting stale, they keep pumping out "realistic" driving simulators that are quite honestly not fun at all really. The point of a "video game" is to be placed in a fantasy or imaginary world where real world physics don't apply. Would you rather have a racing that you can drive up walls, underwater, in the air, or a game that you basically just drive on a road and hitting another driver or wall stops you dead in your tracks.

I think your friend has already made up his mind which company he favors if he purchases a new system just to play a game he could get on one he already owns...and gets it for the older system anyway. I would say to just brush it off.

Boy, is your friend ever going to have egg on his face when he realizes that Tintanfall is SCAR932 confirmed official trash.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

ToastyYogurt

Huh. I thought people would have matured by college.

I have a friend that you might consider a "hardcore" gamer. He's been replaying Skyrim recently and he takes the day off whenever the new Call of Duty comes out. But he has ALWAYS respected my love for Nintendo, and he's one of my closest friends. And I'm not even out of high school yet.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, surprises me people can be ignorant for that long. If it's possible to find friends that are into Nintendo (such as girls, like others mentioned), I'd recommend that. If you think you can give these guys another shot and maybe get into their kinda games if you can tolerate that (while still playing Nintendo while they're not around, of course), I'd recommend that too. Maybe some day they'll look past their ignorance and accept Nintendo.
If all else fails you can always just fake blend in like others have said.
I hope things go well for you.

@MuchoMochi: That's got to be the best way to deal with enemies I have ever heard of.

Honestly, do we have to go into the Call of Duty bashing? I enjoy Call of Duty games alongside Mario games, and other games on numerous platforms. Do you honestly think everyone who plays those games is stupid.

How how does Call of Duty brainwash people. Do people honestly think a campaign that feels like a blockbuster action movie, a multiplayer that encourages run and gun gameplay, and extra modes like Zombies is a war simulator military game?

Call of Duty is no more of an army simulation game then Metal Gear is. Do you honestly think soldiers can call in nukes after getting 25 kills in a row, regenerate health by simply hiding behind a wall, and have a access to tricked out guns, equipment, and perks that enhance them in real life? Does anyone honestly think an average Call of Duty campaign, especially themore recent ones is an accurate look at how military operations work?

Call of Duty is to me a fun series, but its the video game equivalent of a GI Joe movie at times. An overblown, game that relies and flash and tons of cool stuff going on. Call of Duty is not a military simulator by any stretch of the imagination.

Yeah, maybe you could argue it gets people interested in the military. But the same could be said about Madden getting a kid intrested in being a Football Player or a WWE game making them think about getting into wrestling.

COD isn't 100% realistic because, lets face it, propaganda glorifies.
As for the debate at hand, just give him the time of day for his arguments and state yours. In addition, only play games you like, not just because of the crowd.

Yea, no, I'm gonna call bull on this one. Call of Duty or any other military-based game is no more likely to "brainwash" you than any other game. Most of the time people join the military because it pays for a lot of things and helps you get going in life. I don;t want this to boil down into a military/NRA conspiracy debate, but I find the entire x piece of pop-culture causes y argument ridiculous. People don't like it when video games are blamed for violence so why is pulling the same bull against a particular part of the medium ok? I agree with you on the absence of arcade-style and fantasy based shooters though.

@Creative92
Most of those points won't win any arguments.

1.)The dedicated console argument falls short due to 'only' playing games. Those extra features aren't detrimental to the experience and actually makes the console more useful, not less.

2.)Most of those weren't entirely Nintendo's innovations, a lot of them were things they just pushed into mainstream use first. That same "crappy" controller has been good enough to stick with since the beginning, that speaks for its quality more than against it.

3.)A big selling point to video games is doing things you couldn't or wouldn't normally be able to, that applies to more realistic games as well. The entire point of a simulator is just that, to simulate an experience. Its not a strike against any platform to have those types of games, there are plenty of other games to choose from.

Most of your points aren't facts, so you can't exactly "fact check" anyone.
