Maybe they are from Holland, how can you be sure they're not? -_-

I doubt it though. Most people (allegedly the Dutch as well) cannot differentiate The Netherlands and Holland. It's as if I said; ''I'm from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.'' Doesn't make much sense to me as to why you would name the province / region you live in..

Sell some stuff on Marktplaats (games, accesoires, old stuff) , Zeelandnet if you live in Zeeland, , or to friends, including your Wii. Thats how I bought my 3DSXL. Sold my DSI with Mystery Dungeon. Got like 100 euro. Added another 100 and boom, 3DSXL. Trust me, clean off a Wii and some people will still buy it.

@HyperShadow I'm with ya man. I too need the damm Wii U but my parents won't get me and so it looks like I gotta get a job to get that thing.,,,,,being with parents can be so dull in life since your parents control a lot of your life.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

You shouldn't buy a bad console only because you got excited about a few games, when I was your age I got my parents to buy me a SEGA CDX and I still feel guilty to this day, I totally wasted their money for very few games I got for the thing, I went back to my SNES after just a few months (Ecco and Sonic CD were the only two games I actually enjoyed on the thing)

By that logic you should never buy a console until 1 of them is deemed the "Winner." I think it is perfectly fine to buy a console for games that you are interested in, it is better than just following the crowd and not experiencing anything new. Also the Wii U is not a bad console.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I think there's more than a few games to be excited about, especially with the ones coming out. Smash Bros. and MK8 are the types that you can spend 200 plus hours on a piece- maybe even more after a year (I have 75 hours on MK8 after three and a half months).

@Tobias95 Holland is part of the Netherlands. The provinces Zuid-Holland and Noord-Holland together are called ''Holland''

I might be wrong here but I thought I read or heard somewhere that people from Holland dont consider themselves from the Netherlands and get mad if you do say they are from the Netherlands instead of Holland.

I would suggest something like this. Make sure your dad is there and focus on Bayonetta 2. (Thanks Bayonetta thread for the pictures)

yea Sinterklaas may be a good time XD so you can play wii games on the wii u? (throws wii out of the window) yea im a big nintendo fan and they know my whole room is full of sonic, mario and pokemon XD

Well then tell your parents the Wii U can play Wii games, it has lower energy consumption(makes it cheaper for them) than the Wii, offscreen play so you can play on the controller(with earplugs) and they can watch TV (if you don't have a TV in your own room) and has exclusive Sonic & Mario games.

The Wii U... ah yes, it started in 2012 and i wasn't intrested, but now with MK8, SSB4, TTT and some other amazing games... i regret of what i said, because my parents are reading how bad it is selling in the News Paper, i cant get it and im also kinda scared of how they will react when i mention i actually like it... does anyone have some tips? -HyperShadow

This just proves my point that negative press has been hurting Wii U sales.

See that's the problem with the internet these days. If you were a kid in the 80s or 90s you'd maybe see a console at a friends house or at the shops and that'd basically be it. You'd make up your mind about it based on that maybe with one or two games in mind. You didn't know which one was "more popular", you didn't know which games were good. You just saw the cover art:

"wow, what's a Donkey Kong? That looks like fun. Plus it's in a Yellow cartridge! They'd only do that if it was good"

Some playlists: Top All Time Songs, Top Last Year
"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

Steps to get Wii U:
1. Tell parents of interest in Wii U, and ask politely.
2. Offer to help out a bit more around the house.
3. If yes, do chores. If no, go to step A.
4. Hug mom.
5. Do chores and help out.
6. Tell your grandma that Wii U is exciting and reminds you of "the good 'ol days".
7. Tell all your friends what your main character is in Smash Bros, then go to class and do your homework.
8. Hug dad.
9. Do chores.
10. Hope to get Wii U as a gift.

A. Walk away and ask next week.

Alternatively, If you have really strict parents who couldn't care less about videogames
1) Wait for the perfect moment, when the air feels right and everyone is in a good mood. Trust me, if you want a Wii U so badly, You'll KNOW when that moment is.
2) If you screw up, wait a year and ask again.

Source: I have been wanting a Wii U since launch and finally got one on March.
