The fact that Zelda Wii U looks better than any game announced so far for the PS4 or XB1 is pretty indicative of that.
Wii-U games have great graphical Fidelity...but as far as straight up visual prowess it's an under rated system but it is indeed very ancient tech compared to Even X1 let alone PS4 or even worse a low/mid level PC.
I'd love for their next console to see NIntendo return to SNES form and just make a console more powerful than all it's competition put all it's fantastic first party IP's on it and the third party companies would likely come running too.
I wasn't very clear with my point. Yes, Nintendo uses their systems better than anyone else. But my point is that the fact that Zelda U looks so good (I'd say better that Rime and Abzu) is indicative that the Wii U is more that "a 300 dollar 360". It can deliver next gen visuals.
Nope non-HDMI can only utilize 480i and 480p on the Wii U. You can't even set the resolution higher in the Wii U menu if you don't have the HDMI cable hooked in.
There has been a noticeable difference, since launch and other early games that were on last gen, as well.I played Injustice on PS3, but the Wii U version was still clearer, and the same applies to the other ports. It isn't that big of a difference, but it is there. Mario Kart 8, Mario 3D World, and Smash Bros. are beyond last gen, and on mostly on par with Xbox One from what I can tell(I have an Xbox One). Alot of it just has to do with presentation and style, too, because Zelda U basically hasn't been done at all before, AFAIK.
Also, HDMI is the only option if you want surround sound, and it's better that way, anyway.

Wrong, the component cables (Green, Blue, Red for video and White and Red for audio) can reach 1080p
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

the graphics card is waaaay better than PS360, you would hope that it would considering it's 6 years younger..... but the processor is quite literally slower than a wet week, and sub-last gen. That's a key reason a lot of PS3/XBox360 ports didn't come across. The console was designed for Japanese households. It is meant to be a low power consuming device... Where Nintendo triumph however is in the 'Art direction' stakes. Legend of Zelda U will look better than most other next-gen open world RPG's due mostly to the talents of their art teams..
Despite lagging well behind the competition, the Wii U has more than enough horsepower to accommodate its first party developers..
That Zelda gameplay we just watched shows that 8 year old hardware is more than capable of supporting 'mind-blowingly' amazing games...(Even though the rock textures looked horrible)..

That's strange because my Wii U wouldn't let me when I had the component cables...could my cables have somehow been defective?

Maybe your TV won't let you output above 480p with component.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
