If you search through the XBox's and PS3's retail games you are bound to find a plethora of HD remasters. (Metal Gear, Halo, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Rayman 3)
How are your feelings about these remasters? Do you want Nintendo to remaster some stuff? What games deserve some HD Quality?

I don't really care unless they add extra stuff like achievements.

I'd really like to see some 2D Wii games like Wario Land: Shake It! and Muramasa: The Demon Blade receive the HD treatment.

@Kyloctopus SEGA should completely remake SA 1. Compared to SA 2 (released I think a year after) the textures, characters and environments of SA1 feel incredibly outdated. Some emulators have tried running Skyward Sword in HD, and it looks terrible, becaused Nintendo designed it around the blurring of the Wii. Twilight Princess is a much better candidate.

Wind Waker scales pretty well, would benefit from the Wii U controller and is crying out for 16:9

and Wii games? I'm not that interested in HD remakes of Wii games. We only just finished playing those games and you want to buy them again already? No thanks. Give me at least some new 16:9 and improved controls with that 1080p like some nice Wii U tablet stuffs. For that reason Pikmin would have been a pretty good choice if it hadn't already seen a Wiimake. I'm sure there are some other forgotten GC or N64 titles that could do with some 1080p, 16:9 and the tablet treatment outside of Wind Waker.

Sure, why not? Put them up as downloads and I'd buy them, so long as the original graphics were actually higher resolution to start with and they're not just messing about with the image to try to make it artificially look smoother or something.

Usually, remasters are compilations of two or three games. As such, I can imagine a few remasters, thinking only of games which could be played with the Wii U controller withouth needing the Wii remote (reason why I excluded Skyward Sword).

The Legend of Zelda HD Collection, featuring Wind Waker and Twilight Princess: optional Wii remote support in TP style for both games would be nice.
Fire Emblem HD collection, featuring both the Gamecube and Wii entries, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. Touch screen support would be a great plus.
Super Mario Galaxy HD collection, including both games.

As much as I would like to have Metroid Prime in HD, that would be a hard sell as we have a compilation a few years ago.

Cave Story, Bit Trip Series, Jett Rocket, Sonic Heroes, Super Monkey Ball, and Rayman 1 could also use some remastering.

Come to think of it I seem to remember a thread like this when the Wii U was still the Cafe. Maybe even before that. I seem to remember saying that I'd like to see a redone Donkey Kong Country with re-rendered sprites in HD goodness. Don't forget that the big thing about Donkey Kong Country was the fact that all of those backgrounds and all of the sprites for barrels and such were pre-rendered.

I think it would be pretty cool to see them "simply" swap out those old sprites and do the whole thing at the highest resolution possible. I'm not talking about doing another Donkey Kong Country Returns either.

It's a pity that the Wii U won't support upscaling. If you look at Dolphin screenshots, you'll see that many games look absolutely gorgeous through simply adding antialiasing and rendering in higher resolutions. It works particularly well for games that have simple texturing and shading (such as SMG). I think that alone would be a huge selling point for Nintendo, but I honestly don't know how much extra hardware that would require to pull off.

I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

@Wheels2050 The problem is that doing that leaves you with very muddy textures and a blurry HUD with really crisp models. That's not HD. If you look at the Dolphin screenshots make sure you ignore any textures with any detail and pretend like hell that the HUD isn't there because once you see it it's hard to ignore.
