I got my wii u but for some reason it wont go hd. My tv is kinda old (square old) but we have a box that can make the tv HD and the HDMI cable is plugged in. Has anyone ha the same problem and made it work? thanks

You'd need a HDTV to see HD. A converter is kinda pointless without an HDTV.
And go into the settings to see what the video stuff is set on.

How come I still can't see a difference if the GamePad is 780P? It still looks like a wii game (or PS2/3/V or 360 game)

The GamePad is at 480p, the same as Wii. That's probably why they look the same.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

A TV that is not HD cannot become HD with a converter. Are you sure it isn't a converter to go from HD to SD? You know, having the HDMI connector from the Wii U to the converter, and then component/composite from the converter to the TV?

@HarmoKnight: No, it's optimised 480p. The fact that it's optimised with the size of the GamePad's screen is what makes it looks so crisp and clear.

You can't magically make the TV display HD. As everyone else has said, you need an HD TV. For an SD TV, an HD box won't do anything more than an SD box.
