Topic: Has your opinion of nitnendo, microsoft, or sony changed because of e3?

I've been pretty happy with the Wii U since I bought it back in April. But there have been some peaks & valleys. Even now, I have a backlog of games that I haven't even opened and/or barely played. Before E3, I was looking forward to Bayonetta, Project Cars, Smash, Shinen's car game, and Hyrule Warriors.... Honestly, I've fine with the collection that I have and these titles would just be gravy.

So, I'm pretty interested in almost all the new stuff announced. Star Fox especially, Toad, Yoshi, Mario v. DK, Splatoon, MP10, Amiibos.... There's a ton to look forward to and I was fine even before.

I only watched the Nintendo Digital event, but the gushing positive praise towards Xbox One and Sunset Overdrive encouraged me to check out a clip of the game on YouTube. What the flagnard! That looks insanely fun. I understand now.
My son keeps bugging me for an Xbox and now this game pops up. Hmm, was going to go PS4 thanks to Arkham Knight but MS wins. Only just, thanks to having Rare's IP's. Unless Sony announce new Twisted Metal and Wipeout (nostalgia is strong for those 2), then I'm stuffed.

I don't know how old your son is, but Sunset Overdrive definitely isn't a kid's game.

In the trailer, the main character was dropping F-bombs left & right.

Game does look awesome, but the overly foul language doesn't seem to make sense, though. Looks like it'd make an amazing "T" title without it, but they're just shoehorning it in to up the rating to "M".

Other than that, game has me stoked.

I dunno, I think the overly foul language really helps its satirical nature.

That said though, in the west we have this weird habit of not associating darker or mature story/content with colorful animation. It's part of the whole taboo on cartoons, and part of why literally every good cartoon of the past 5 years has been cancelled.

My opinion has changed on Nintendo and MS, feelings toward Sony are the exact same. Nintendo killed this E3. They made me very happy to own a wiiu. For a while there I was really considering selling it. But so many great games coming. The art style of Zelda is amazing....I cant wait for this game. Mario Maker blew me away with the treehouse live demos. This game will make a lot of my friends get a wiiu. Cant wait for Yoshi now. It looks amazing!!! For some reason everyone is comparing it to LBP3 and saying it looks better. The Smash tournament blew me away. That crowd was nuts. The game looks amazing! Xenoblade looks incredible. Cant wait for it. Starfox being confirmed!!!! Disappointed nothing on Retro and Metroid though.
MS, let me down big time. I was really expecting to see Halo 5 and Gears, but got Halo 1-4 ALL ON 1 DISC!!!!! Not good enough for me. I can now say I have 0 interest in getting an xbox 1.
Sony didnt change my mind at all. I know I will get a ps4 eventually. That white ps4 looks amazing. They did a good job. Didnt blow me away like Nintendo did. A new Suda 51 exclusive makes me really interested. And of course Uncharted 4!

You seem very excited! So, since this was a part of your disappointments I thought I'd send this your way. http://mynintendonews.com/2014/06/13/nintendo-say-they-are-pl...

@RR529 Haha, I should have been clearer. Sunset Overdrive tickles my tastebuds, no way in heck would I let my boy play or watch me play it, not for several years. He wants an Xbox because his cousin has one and that blasted Minecraft.

Everyone did good, my opinion of MS changed because this E3 they focused on the games as opposed to the previous ones where they focused too much time on their console's multimedia capabilities (I think one E3 they spent like 90% of their conference just talking about that crap).

PS4 looks about the same as it did before the show to me, XBOne looks slightly more interesting, upgrading my PC looks like a good idea and I finally have the "I don't know which one game I want" problem on Wii U.

Nintendo was the best, by far, Sony and MS did a decent job, i just dont get excited at all for a trailer anymore, i need gameplay not just flashy trailers (i still remember that Area 51 fiasco)

Being a PC gamer, my interest in Sony/MS consoles its pretty low, besides Exclusives theres 0 reason for me to get any games for them (PC games are cheaper/better) so the WiiU was the only console i really wanted to get (could get a PS4/XB1 if the exclusives are worth it), and Nintendo sold it on me, after the Digital Event was over, i called the local store and bought one (got it yesterday)

Pretty good console i might say, got NSMB + Luigi, MK8, ZeldaHD and Pikmin3, all of them really good games (especially MK8, i would say that game is worth the WiiU alone, i see myself playing online over and over again), so far really happy with it, and cant wait to get more games for it, im loving the gamepad

It's exactly the same for me. What few exclusives the PS4 and XB1 have simply don't interest me. The rest of their lineup is a much better experience on my dedicated gaming PC. Not to mention, if I'm playing games in the living room, it's more often than not a social experience - and Nintendo has fantastic local multiplayer games out the wazoo.

Not to much for me really.

Nintendo — Did great and they restored alot of faith to its consumers with this E3. I almost had that old Nintendo fell again when I heard some of their announcements it seems to me they are starting to remember what made them great to begin with.

Sony — Was alright it wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. I am looking forward to Destiny and Batman and The Order but those are ones I wanted before E3. Really the way Sonys sales have been with the PS4 they really didn't have to do too much like Nintendo and MS had to get back into the race.

Microsoft — It seems to me that once they got rid of Mattrick they were able to focus on what brought them to the dance with Sony and Nintendo. It not a surprise that for one thing the Kinectless Xbox One is selling better then the original one. They showed off alot of games instead of apps for the Xbox One like last years E3.

I honestly think with MS and Nintendo stepping up their game like they did we are going to have a good race this gen. But then again these races don't mean that much to me I just play what I like no matter what console they are on.

Can someone please explain to me what on earth Sony did that was good?

They teased an already announced 2015 game with a CG trailer (Uncharted 4)
They basically revealed the name and developer and almost nothing else for 2 3rd party exclusives (Let it Die and Bloodborne)
And they revealed LBP3 for PS4 and PS3.

And that's the full extent of their exclusive lineup.
I don't see how that's good or even okay. The only really strong part of the conference was when they talked about Playstation TV and PSNow.

I'm not a Sony hater. It was the only non Nintendo press conference I watched this year because I respect Sony and their games. But good god was it disappointing.

What's worse is that they devoted a significant amount of showtime to explaining how they would be able to use their PS4 to watch TV. That blew my mind...and not in a good way.

I actually really liked Sony's conference, but it did NOTHING to convince me PS4 was the console to get.

though they need to put PS2 games on that Playstation Vita TV thing, so I can buy it and use it forever

Why did you like Sony's E3? I'm not challenging you or anything. I just want you to expand on why you liked it.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Microsoft got marginally better IMO, they are more game focused now, but unfortunately their lineup is still primarily dudebro and uninteresting.

Sony hasn't changed much either. They got a bit more dudebro maybe.

Nintendo, I was starting to lose hope with them with all of the rehashes we've been getting over the last few years, but the games shown off this year are a bit more interesting, so I have a bit more hope for them now.

Wonkers

Prefix - I am a lifelong PC and Nintendo Gamer.

Microsoft:
I have never owned a Microsoft console and time and time again get convinced that will never change. I find it absolutely abhorrent what they have done with Xbox One. They put out a product full of absolute junk features that your average person doesn't care about. They then do a total switch, hoping that people will come along for the ride anyway; all the while forgetting that people have still spend upwards of 400 whatever and there is absolutely no killer AAA titles coming out for the rest of the year. Unless someone can tell me otherwise, your average XB1 gamer did not buy the console to play indies (the most interesting of which, Cuphead, is going to Steam anyway) nor did they want it to become a HD collection thing. They want Destiny. They want other shooters, action/adventures, whatever. Maybe driving stuff. None of it is ready. Most of it hasn't even got gameplay trails yet. Furthermore, their treatment of the guys who made Fantastia is disgusting. All you have at the moment is a rather expensive, dormant Blu-Ray player that can also play FIFA (in a few months) and COD soon. Totally unappetising.

Sony:
Unlike MS, I did have a Sony console briefly. Despite having one though I can also agree with MS that I will never end up having one in the future. Their arrogance is stifling and extremely repulsive. I would argue that, again, what applies to MS and AAA can also apply to Sony to a lesser extent. Handfuls of people are buying Vita's for Indies, but not PS4's.
Speaking of Indies, there a lot there on PS4 but have they somehow usurped the PC as the ultimate indie friendly platform, like they think/act they have? Absolutely not and never. Timed exclusive is not the same as exclusive. Infact, I'm not even sure how many exclusives Sony has per se, be it Indie or otherwise. And let's say there are (I'm sure there are) indie exclusives for PS4. I'm guessing on average in a calendar year they add up to no more then 15, perhaps less or more. That is a drop in the ocean compared to Steam - via Greenlight or just the normal methods of distribution. So as a gamer as described in the first line of this post, why on earth would I want to invest in a PS4. Parity clause makes no difference to PC Gaming.

As for what was shown, I loved Grim Fandango but if a reboot/remake of a 20 year old game is supposed to be the absolute best news, again, for something upwards of 350 currency, then I am clearly a very unusual person for thinking Sony should have done better. Equally, a lot of reports have stated most of their games they do have for themselves are generic bland shooters. A re-release of a few PS3 games? Beta access, DLC exclusivity, some of which cannot be essential as it would p*** the other publishers for other multiplats. PS TV which is anything but essential either. Blah blah blah. Utter rubbish.

Well people were excited by the Xenoblade, Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors trailers, right? Already announced games getting new trailers, so by the same token people were impressed by the new Destiny, Arkham Knight and Metal Gear Solid V trailers. Uncharted 4 was their Zelda. Already announced, but this is the first time we see it, and that was NOT CG, it was all confirmed to be running in engine. And for people like Miyzaki, all you really need is the name of the developer to get excited. It's the same as people getting excited knowing Miyamoto is working on a new Star Fox.

Sony is now the "bad guy" in the industry for me. It used to be Microsoft in the Kinect era, but now Sony is just being bland in terms of lineup; and Microsoft has interesting games it has reversed. Sony could turn it around, but it would need to get killer exclusives and not just exclusive content... This is what caused the "COD DLC 1ST ON XBOX" culture in gaming; not one I am a fan of.

Destiny, Arkham Knight, and MGSV aren't the same thing as X, Bayonetta 2, or Hyrule Warriors at all. All the latter are exclusive to Nintendo's platform, and are thus actual reasons to buy Nintendo's system. All 3 were also originally set for 2014.

Also, Destiny and MGSV aren't even exclusive to current gen, releasing on PS360 as well.

Now I did pull my comment mainly because I unfairly ignored a few exclusives like Abzu and Magika 2. Just because I'm not interested in Magika doesn't make it a bad reveal.

Miyamoto is the man who set the basic rules that define how games play today. Comparing him to Miyazaki is like comparing Alfred Hitchcock to Christopher Nolan. I mean I'm slightly excited for Interstellar, but since I really know almost no details, I'm not all that hyped.
