Since it is a natsume game I'm going to hold off. Their first entry was ok and shows promise but story of seasons is much better. I do hope they change the art style though...ugh.

...I was about to correct you on that, but then I saw the "console" part. Yes, it's excusive to the Wii U as far as consoles go. Natsume/Marvelous has been surprisingly loyal to Nintendo, actually.
So please, let's save that for when it releases and turns out to be a bad generic cash-in.
Ushi no tane has a some details for the game:
If you haven't read the press release yet, the player will be charged with revitalizing a farm and locating the missing Seeds of Memories. Completing tasks in the game, such as caring for animals or catching giant fish, will unlock seeds. Some of the other features mentioned on the press release are:
befriending villagers in town by giving gifts.
producing higher-quality items by upgrading your tools.
getting married by selecting from 5 marriage candidates per gender (10 total).
The announcement pointed out that players will be caring for cows, chickens, sheep, a dog, and a pet horse. It also highlighted that there will be a new bobcat in the game, which starts out wild (sounds similar to the pets in Animal Parade) and you must earn its trust for it to become your companion pet.
Festivals will be included (Starry Night and Cooking Contest are listed), and players can go fishing, mining, foraging, and of course, farming and ranching.
Many of the player complaints about Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley were based on the fact that the game was too far off-base from a traditional Harvest Moon game that players come to expect with each release. They wanted a town, more marriage candidates, and tool upgrades. These are included in this newest entry to the series, but there are also a lot of unknown factors too. Who are the marriage candidates? Will hybrid crops make a return? Will Murrey come back in all his mangy glory?
Yea, probably a "no" on that last one Poor little buddy...
The press release says the game will have an early development preview available at this month's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, June 16 to June 18. I'll be there searching for unusual games, and maybe I'll get a chance to check out the latest Harvest Moon game too.
Like I said on the article. It isn't Bokujō Monogatari. But I am excited all the same. I think it will end up pretty great. It seems to be going in the right direction. And I need a console Harvest Moon game Still playing Animal Parade. Excited to get a Wii U game finally
I am waiting for the new REAL Harvest Moon in form of the next "Story of Seasons".
This this THIS.

Well, with TLV they wanted to create their own thing and actually listened the fans a lot more than we give them credit for (which ended up making the game harder than it was originally meant to be).
With this one it seems they plan to be more traditional and stick closer to the classic harvest moon recipe. Again, because that's what fans seem to want.
But yeah, it's a learning process. TLV was a great first try if you ask me. Hopefully this next one will be better.
Finally getting a new Harvest Moon game on consoles... but it really is in name only.
Well, hope it turns out fine and they fix the stuff that turned me off about TLV. Natsume has been very loyal and supportive of Nintendo so I truly do wish them the best.

I'm excited to see this, weird platform choices though. But Harvest Moon is traditionally on Nintendo anyway. I've not played a console HM since AWL. So many people are down on this already and it hasn't even had anything been announced about it basically. Kinda sad.
It's been revealed that most (if not all) of the characters from TLV will be returning, with a notable improvement in the art style (seriously, they look much better, but not different).
Actually, the new DLC characters from TLV are using the new style. And they look really out of place, with their more human proportions and better detailed models.
Edit:
It seems the returning characters will be in new roles, like an alternate universe version of them (think: Majoras Mask).
Also, the main town is aparently called Chestnut town.
This will be an "alternate" version of them, so even if they will keep the accents (like Sam), they'll apparently have reworked stories and personalities.
Edit: The first video of the iOS version of the game is out.
It's worth mentioning that it is aparently a really early build and mostly just to show off the graphics at E3.
