Topic: Hardware Wii U sales figures for Black Friday Week

Because VGChartz are not at all representative of the real numbers? Give me a break! Seriously guys all of the released figures match up with what VGChartz says, what more do we want from these? Correct to 5 significant figures? No. All we need for this context is to know whether it's doing 1mill, 500k, 250k, 100k or sub 100k. That's it.

It's making a slowwwww comeback I think.

UK (Not the whole EU though) had our first Black Friday this year and it was a bigger success than critics thought it would ensuring we will now continue the tradition much like halloween which we also adopted decades ago.

Out of all the holidays a country could've picked up from us, it had the be the one of mass commercialism. Great...

It's not that. It's their methods. Last I checked, all they really do is guess based on some store figures. I won't trust them as far as I can throw them, nor do I trust anybody who uses them.

So slow its not even noticeable, I agree.

What other days would you like them to pick up? Thanksgiving to celebrate with the pilgrims, the Fourth of July to celebrate American independence?

The people at VGChartz have said that their numbers do tend to be wrong from time to time. How often? I don't know. How bad? I think DS was once shown to have 100m more than what was indicated at one point.

Source? Surely someone recorded this mistake. With how the site works, errors that drastic should be impossible.

These are not bad numbers when you consider the fact that most ads put more emphsis on the 3DS family and the Wii Mini. Those were the main NIntendo products that got all the press from the stores. And of course, the PS3 and Xbox 360 trotted out their holiday bundles which were promoted heavily in various ads with massive price drops. The PS3's numbers are not a shocker given they were selling a 250 GB system with Arkham Orgins and The Last of Us for $199.

Not a bad Black Firday, now Nintendo just needs to keep the momuntum going.

If Wii U manage to keep with 150k+ for now, it will be good and with new games next year sales will jump drastically

Wii U just need a library of 5-6 AAA games and we have one of them ATM = Mario 3D World.

Wow, if those numbers are accurate, then the Wii U's sales were even lower than I expected for last week.

I'll be rooting for the Wii U to gain some major momentum over the next month, but I'm not seeing many realistic indications to be optimistic.

I think to say Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Zombi U and Lego City: Undercover not being AAA is a bit unfair. Plus Wind Waker is a remake of a AAA game for a generation that didn't play it. Also The Wii U does have AAA 3rd Party Games (COD, AC3/4, Arkham A/O)- but most people just chose to buy them on different systems.

also I'd like to go against the "no one played Wind Waker because it was on GCN theory" because less people played Skyward Sword despite being on Wii, and other than OOT is the closest that Zelda has come to being as popular as Mario in terms of game sales at least.

People aren't giving Nintendo a break. It's unrealistic to see "launch numbers" for any console's sales a year after the fact. 275k worldwide sounds about right, and I think it'll continue on that level right until January.

Funny how people are already laying down excuses for the PS4. Numbers are numbers. Bottom line is Wii U outsold PS4. Sony's lack of inventory, as Reggie once said: "Not my problem".

Thing is though that all platforms got a bit of a boost over the same period. Two weeks ago the Wii U was moving ~70k/week and the 360 was hovering at around 106k with the PS3 at 173k. Now sure the Wii U is doing a lot better at 274k (+390%) but in the same week the 360 moved 480k units (+450%) and the PS3 486k (+280%).

So it's good but this is also a good sales period in general. Although the good thing here is that we know consumers don't think the Wii U is completely irrelevant. If it was no amount of sales would convince people to pick one up.

I'm personally just hoping for a situation where people assuming the console is screwed and Nintendo relying on Mario to fix all their problems both are completely hilariously wrong. That would be the best thing.

If past years are anything to go by sales from here will jump to ~300-400k and hover there 'till the end of the year. If it does better than that then we know it's something more than just the usual holiday boost. If it does less then....
