10. Wii U GamePad
9. Wii U Pro Controller
8. Nintendo Gamecube Controller
7. Nintendo 64 Controller
6. NES Controller
5. Wii Remote Plus + Nunchuk
4. Dualshock 2
3. Xbox 360 Controller
2. Super Nintendo Controller
1. Dualshock 4
N64 controller and Wii remote + Nunchuk better than GC controller.
lol, only for 2D platformers(N64 controller, what's ironic since N64 had almost no 2D platformers) and Shooters(Wii remote + nunchuk)

I really like how they spend half of the top ten praising Nintendo's ideas and innovations but on top of the list there's the obvious controller from the must have current gen console that does nothing new but apparently is "sensual".
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Eh...don't care. What makes their opinion more important than my own?
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
My list:
1. GamePad
2. Dual Shock 4
3. Wii remote+(nunchuck)
4. Xbox One/Kinect
5. Move/PS Camera
6. Xbox 360/Pro controller
7. Classic Controller(Pro)
8. Xbox controller/Dual Shock 1 & 2
9. GameCube
10. N64
The gametrailers top 10 is full of crap. Why are people choosing older controllers that do less over new ones that do more? EDIT: The SNES controller is great, but it just doesn't do as much as the newer controllers. The GamePad and Pro controller being below N64 and GCN alone makes this list absolute garbage.
EDIT2: Also, excluding Move, PS Camera, and Kinect automatically confirns that this list is garbage.
I'm sorry to all the fans but I think the N64 controller is terrible. Even in the video the people were saying how they enjoyed the games, not talking much about the controller. Also the NES controller is pretty bad, with the sharp edges.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

It's almost disturbing how absolutely ridiculous this list is. The GamePad is literally the most versatile controller ever, and it doesn't even beat the NES? SNES being #2 is... is... WTF is wrong with GT?

Yeah, I'm surprised to see the N64 controller up there. I played the heck out of the system when I was a kid, and when I occasionally play the games today I still have fun, but I can't comprehend how I ever put up with that controller for any length of time...
As for my favorites:
5. Dualshock 3
4. Wii Classic Controller Pro
3. Dualshock 2
2. Gamecube controller
1. Xbox 360 controller
As for the Wii Remote, it varies from game to game, because how it's used varies pretty wildly, and thus is fantastic in some instances, while being average in others, making it tough to place.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
my favorites are:
1- GC / WiiU gamepad(only used the gamepad for a few minutes but it felt just right)
2- Clasic Controller pro
3- Dualshock 2(never tried 3 or 4)
4- N64(let the haters hate)
5- Wii Remote + Nunchuk(pointer aiming is the best way for shooting games)

In terms of what you like? It actually makes their opinion a waste of time. I figure everyone should use what's most comfortable, and since everyone is physically different...lists like this are absolutely ridiculous. Personally, I HATE Playstation controllers. Can't stand 'em...BUT that doesn't mean I don't think someone else could love them. Physical comfort/mental cohesion is way more variable than taste in games/development quality.
...though there are some objective aspects...like that poor N64 stick...though that may mostly been Mario Party's fault
Unscripted, so they don't have to worry about good writing.
My fave five
1. Genesis 6-button
2. Wii U GamePad—best analogue sticks I have ever used. (Haven't used DS4 or XBOne, though.) Also a great idea in general.
3. Wii Remote(+) and Nunchuk—can't imagine playing Twilight Princess without it. And if there's anything that could make Metroid Prime 3 better than the first two games, this is it.
4. PDP Versus—so clicky! Got one for my birthday yesterday and I love it so far.
5. original Wii Classic Controller
N64 and NES controller have absolutely no place being on that list.
Agreed.
But I take more issue with the Wii Remote being on any list of the best controllers. I, personally, don't really even consider it a controller-- and I hate it, which may cause a /slight/ bias.
If I had a list of terrible lists, this would be in my top 3.
How can any retro controller be considered one of the best? They're old and pretty uncomfortable, especially if you have big hands. Nintendo has gradually made their controllers better over time. Gamepad extremely comfortable and smooth feeling, albeit huge and clunky. It definitely doesn't deserve to be 10th. I'll actually agree with their rating of the Xbox 360 controller though. That is one controller that is hard to complain about. I never even touched a PS4 controller though so I can't comment on that.. I'm sure that will change one of these days.
