GTA V was announced yesterday

Who thinks it will come out on the WiiU?

I have no doubt it'll come to WiiU.

I"m about 50% right now
I hope it returns to San Andreas again!
I miss Mt. Chiliad, the country land, planes, and desert so much!

Apparently, that's what all of the signs point to.

Anyways, though, Rockstar said a while back that they want to bring their franchises to the Wii U. Well, GTA is their biggest one. It's pretty much their only active one now, barring Max Payne, Midnight Club, and Red Dead. It's fairly obvious that it'll see a Wii U release.

This thread concerns both GTA V and Wii U.

edit* anyway, what could the Wii U controls bring to the GTA series?

I think it will use traditional controls, with the whole start menu on screen!

-The map will be on the controller at all times, but when you press start it switches to the TV

-Without pausing, you can place a way point on the map!

-There will be an option to use gyro controls when driving

-There will be interactive missions, like, dismantle the bomb, on the controller

-You can press a button on the controller to bring up your cell-phone (if there is one) so you can do stuff on the controller

I'm not sure Rockstar will bother.

Might happen, but wouldn't be surprised, given Rockstar's record with Nintendo, if it doesn/t.

And if it does happen, I wouldn't expect much over and above the PS3/ Xbox 360 version. You'll get a map on the Wii U screen, if you're lucky.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. The Gamecube didn't get any GTA games but neither did the original XBox (well, not initially), the Wii didn't get any GTA but the Wii didn't really get any major cross-platform third party game. The Wii U is a different beast, just look at the titles announced already.

To be honest I wouldn't be too surprised either way but I'd be more surprised if the Wii U didn't get GTA V.

There's a GTA on the DS. Chinatown Wars.

I am not trying to act like a mod do you see me locking threads? Since when is it a crime to let people know that there is a on going thread going on? Honestly whys it so hard to to see if there is an on going thread. I mean whats the sense in have twenty people posting the same thread over and over. What if I went now and made a thread about GTA V being announced. I mean honestly all we need is one thread to discuss said game.

@Viewtiful_Joe Yeah but I'm fairly sure YellowChocobo was talking about console versions. The fact that there is an official GTA on everything but Wii and Android does give weight to the "Rockstar will release on anything" argument. So basically I think the evidence suggests that a Wii U GTA V isn't as crazy as people think.

That and the fact that Rockstar made Manhunt 2 and Bully for the Wii.... so I think the argument that Nintendo and Rockstar have a bad relationship is a load of BS. Also, the less said about the games that Rockstar HAS done for the Wii the better.

Some good ideas and speculation... all ripped from the DS GTA. Still, the map thing is a no-brainer and I'd be surprised if it doesn't end up being a standard thing across all/most Wii U games. I mean it is what most DS and 3DS games use the second screen for and it is how they used the second screen in Chinatown Wars.

Tasuki, please, we've been over this before — whether a thread winds up locked and redirected is up to the moderation staff. In this case, I think it's okay to have two separate threads in order to keep the 'other gaming' and/or confirmed portion of the discussion away from the Wii U speculation (and the fanboys from either side from each other's throats). For the nth time, we would really, really appreciate it if you'd just report these things and move on so that potentially okay threads don't wind up derailed.

I think it would be cool if the wii u controller could be used as a map. I hate having to pause every time to look at the map

that would be cool if it was a launch title for the wii u

Even cooler if it was exclusive until next year, or the next GEN!

I hated it too!

I never had that problem with the map. You just look at your HUD and drive in the general direction of the next thing until you get there. It'd be cool to have a better and bigger HUD that's a bit more out of the way.

Oh, and you've got a second screen, a huge capacity disk and a high powered system. They should make it so if I get calls they're video calls. Just because.

It's crazy that GTA 3 is even coming to the iPad and we still do not have it on the Wii... you know it would sell a lot on Wii
