2015, when changes made now start hitting the market, is going to be an interesting year for Wii U and 3DS owners!!!

As long as "japan centric" means stuff like Street Pass etc, that genarally only work because of japans way denser population than yes, when it means that they plan on westernising their games, then im outa here.

I don’t think the big N would westernize their franchises any more than what you may already consider them, so calm down Bubsy………they already do a good job of appealing to both sides of the Pacific.

What I hope is that Nintendo starts to mend fences / open up to western developers, and also, consider a wide variety of games outside of their current catalogue. Remember when a Nintendo racing game didn’t automatically equal Mario Kart? Or when a Nintendo sports game didn’t "have" to take place in the Mushroom Kingdom.

I think some people might be reading more into it than was actually said.

Good news for WiiU? Heck this could be good news for Nintendo as a whole if done correctly.
Heh, it's a wait N' see method surely. But awesome to admit that hey the western market is a bit different than the guys here at japan. Hopefully they don't go too radical like say, make mario a first person shooter with on-disc dlc and changing the outfits of the characters just because younger gamers aren't playing the games like they used to.

It's a very good thing. Nintendo will not survive as a company if they don't take the American market more seriously, especially since the American gaming market has became the most important market.

cool, maybe they will start running after western third parties to shut the mouth of the haters....
or F-Zero.. I'd love F-zero to happen again.
or maybe even the online infrastructure whatchamacallit thingie people always keep complaining about...

I know like why doesn't the console look like a VCR? Why doesn't Nintendo charge me in order to play Wii games or just not let me? Why don't they get rid of Miiverse and turn it into a facebook app? And lastly why doesn't the Wii U come in Purple?

the last one I agree.... I like purple videogames. or rather I'm not too fond of standard black and white videogames

I don't get what people mean with online infrastructure. Is it about playing online or what?
But like @Einherjar said, people will find something else. Even if we get a "proper" account system I could imagine people saying that it isn't what they wanted, because they can't register their account on the consoles of everyone they know, so that those people could play their downloaded games, too. Or something like that. -_-

@Rin-go I have nothing to complain about(except the console colors and that problem with Brazilian banks that every game company already solved, except Nintendo ) but it's everywhere. people are saying how Nintendo's online sucks(I never had problems with it though)

Yes, I understand that you have no problem. ^^ The way you worded it showed that you don't really know what they are talking about either. I mean, with the Wii many state how laggy online multiplayer was, but with the Wii U the only occasion of heavily reported lag was tennis on Wii Sports Club. But that seems to have been patched by now or something.

@Rin-go "Online Infrastructure" basicly refers to HOW the console / the games use the internet. People are complaining that the WiiU misses Voice Chat, has a somewhat burried text chat option, doesnt feature a "party" system, is too local MP focused and that the overall quality of the online experience (lag, connection issues, connection losses etc) is sub par to that of nintendos competitors.
Since i dont use such features that much, even on other consoles, i cant really complain about anything.
Other than that, youre absolutely right. "Thats not what WE (ME) wanted" is basicly the overall message here. People are expecting a console catered especially towards them. Nintendo has several reasons for being like they are, either you accept it, can live with it and enjoy gaming or use other consoles.
Its not like there are no alternatives.

@Rin-go though after their servers went down because of the Pokémon Bank it IS a good idea to have better servers.

Very true. There are other consoles to choose from that might cater to someone's liking. Why turn the Wii U into something it isn't and should not be?

I say if Nintendo's going to focus on western audiences they should do this:
1) IF games have to be made specifically for western audiences don't mess with your current IPs just make new ones for western audiences. Don't do what Capcom did with RE please!!!
2) You managed to secure some third party game exclusivity like Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Platinum games, maybe you should encorporate that plan with some third party Western developers.
3) Place more focus on Retro studios they are your gem and they are a studio located in the US.
