We all (or a good amount of us at least) love new IPs from Nintendo, and the Wii U could use some more titles, so let's give Nintendo some ideas for new games! (We all know the odds of this being seen by anyone with the power to make this a game is low, but we can hope, right?)
I think a spin-off Metroid game where the player with the game pad controls a Galactic Federation warship (or if on land towers like from the tower defense genre) and the player(s) with Wii remotes control a galactic federation soldier in a 3rd person shooter-style game and battle the space pirates on foot and try to repel forces invading their ship, while trying to invade the enemies base.
Anyone else got any ideas?
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
A beat me up quest kinda like the subspace emassary with a cast of different Nintendo characters like SSBB did, but have your choice of teaming up with either the good guys or bad guys depending which character you choose, and have a bunch of items from other Nintendo games like the super mushroom and hookshot

BEAT ME UP?!? There, they've got an entire new genre.

They should do a horror game. I know they could do a great one. In example being Metroid. But Metroid ain't horror.

Ugh. Whatever. You're right. Silicon Knights made Eternal Darkness. Does that wet your pants? My point is, it's a nintendo-exclusive series, or maybe just game.

Just our of interest, what, exactly, does Nintendo own with regards to sanity effects? Because other games on other consoles have insanity effects.
Or is it just the idea of a Sanity "meter" that Nintendo owns rights to?
Also, I totally see a lawsuit heading Ubisoft's way for Far Cry 3. Rather surprised that Bethesda didn't cop it for Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.
Why does it mention Vagrant Story in the patent? I get that Nintendo has a patent on Sanity Effects, but why is an amazing game unrelated to Eternal Darkness there?
Also, I remember Nintendo trademarking the Eternal Darnkess name back in 2010. Maybe a WiiU Eternal Darkness game?

I like how it mentions in that article that they also re-applied their Luigi's Mansion trademark, since we got a new Luigi's Mansion game. Honestly, I think Nintendo would re-release the gamecube game first and see how well it sells.
Yeah, the writing on the wall says we'll get a new Eternal Darkness. Great news for lots of people .
To get back to the purpose of the topic, I agree that Nintendo needs a solid FPS. Metroid Prime was a FPA game, so there is a difference.

Silicon Knights (or specifically Dennis Dyack) owns that license, I believe. And since he's down to a staff of 20 or so, I'm not sure that's happening.

Unless he sold the ED license.

I doubt he sold it. However, Nintendo holds the Sanity Meter patent, and considering how important that was to making Eternal Darnkess unique, I'd say it'd be pretty hard to make it for another system. Plus, if it was exclusive to WiiU, Nintendo could give resources towards making it happen faster.
Either that, or Nintendo is making their own horror game. I can see it right now... WiiScareU.
