Topic: Getting back into Wii U

I had basically forgotten about my Wii U for a year or two and it was just sitting on my shelf. Then a couple of weeks ago I was doing some tidying up and decided to see if I could set it up. It appears I have lost all of the cables for it but after emailing Nintendo customer support apparently I can buy replacements (for a silly amount of money I might add) so I'm looking for recommendations on what games to get for the Wii U.

I'd love to get back into Nintendo games as they offer something that no other platform has but because it has been so long since I've used my Wii U I have no idea what I should be looking out for.

I was thinking of getting the Star Fox First Edition, Yoshis Wolly World and maybe Mario Maker but when it comes to Mario Maker I'm a bit concerned that the online features will go away at some point making the game pretty much worthless. I only really game on my own so multiplayer stuff doesn't really interest me.

Also what are the good virtual console games to get? I don't own any of them.

I already have Splatoon, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, New Super Mario Bros U + New Super Luigi U.

Thanks for the help .

Off the top of my head, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse or, if you don't have a Switch, 1/2 Genie Hero are both great games. Fast Racing Neo is a fantastic racer (but get the Switch version if applicable). Captain Toad is another Wii U favorite of mine (and I don't foresee that one coming to Switch due to the unique gamepad controls).

I loved Star Fox Zero but never beat the final stage as it exposed my lack of mastery of the control scheme. Super Mario 3D World is great too. Starts off super easy but the difficulty ramps up. I beleive these two are pretty cheap second hand ATM.

Asphalt 9 / Siege Engine FTW

Awesome. Thanks for the reply . I'll check them out. Still need to wait for Nintendo to send me the replacement cables before I can do anything though. Looking forward to playing the Wii U again though.
