A good long nice JRPG(Tatical or turnbased i prefer)
Xeno-whatever is on it's way. Is there really any difference between 1st party and 3rd party exclusives nowadays? It's likely being paid for by Nintendo to some extent.
I'd also like Nintendo to try their hand at a RTS. Something like Age of Empires. With a touch pad, it could work.

something like Age of hyrule or something based on fire emblem would work really well actually
Playing: Wargroove on Switch and Fire Emblem on GBA
Its basically lacking in all genres except platformers and party games. Thats why you need third party support. You cannot fill so many holes only with first party
This.
I still think it's worth having some specialisation, so that the platform becomes known as the place to go for this or that genre, though not to the exclusion of all else. It's also good to consider the competition to try and work out where they have gaps or under-served audiences that can potentially be attracted over.
The Gamepad has a large touch screen and there are no strategy games on the Wii U like StarCraft or Civilization.
Yeah, that's the one. It has all kinds of action games (Assassin Creed, Batman, Mass Effect, Wonderful 101 etc), fighting games (Tekken, Injustice, Smash Bros.), racing (Sonic, Mario Kart), first person games (Call of Duties, Deux Ex, ZombiU), platformers (DK, NSMB, 3DWorld, Rayman), but it is really missing strategy games that could be amazing with the game pad.
I definitely agree with more Fighters and Strategy titles. I'd totally at least try to get into any decently liked PC strategy game if it was put on Wii U and I've been wanting to get into a non-Smash Bros fighter for a while now.
I barely see any (quality) action RPG and fighting games on WiiU, but I wouldn't trust Nintendo with either genre at all. Same goes for japanese RPG's, but I suppose those are bound to come out as soon as the WiiU sells enough.

Nintendo makes tons of JRPGs, but most are turn based. Mario & Luigi, Pokemon, Paper Mario, Golden Sun, Xenoblade, and I think there is one more I'm missing.
