Topic: GameStop shuts off Wii U pre orders ENTIRELY

For both the Deluxe AND basic bundles now. Hard to say I'm surprised. However, I can't help but worry that a debacle similar to the Wii release will go down, and that I will be affected by it somehow.

Nintendo Really had to limit the amount of I bet its extremely a low amount. I would love to see the Numbers

I'm like alot of other in wondering if they're just sitting on truckloads if others and waiting until closer to holiday shopping season, to create more hype.

Nintendo has not even began manufacturing according to a few articles I read.

"We know no one has leaked any pictures of the Wii U supply line," he says. "Those always leak. Someone always sneaks a camera into the facility. The fact that we haven't seen pictures means manufacturing hasn't started as of this week. So, if they're starting manufacturing in late September, the most they can commit to is 1.5 million units per month."

I wonder if there will be a special price for it. Doubt it though seeing as the system would have come out only about a week before. I do remember getting my 3DS for $140 during that week, but of course that was after the price cut AND it had been out for quite a while.

Maybe not right away they may at some point do that in the weeks closer to Christmas. Also I know some stores will probably have a buy 2 games get one free sale which applies to all systems and you can mix and match.

Even if Nintendo is sitting on truckloads to be able to say "Our new system is selling out! Isn't that great?!" I still see one fact. PEOPLE ARE BUYING THE WII U. Even if there is a small number of "actual" Wii U systems available now, PEOPLE ARE BUYING THEM. If it wasn't a hit with anyone, we'd still have Deluxe Sets ready for preorder.

Havent pre ordered mine, not sure whether i will have the money till release day, so im taking the gamble it will be available in a shop in town. if not ill put the money in the bank and order online hopefully somewhere in the UK will have some available...

Like @kyuu said, it's good to see there's obviously demand for it. While I don't know that we've been given any actual figures for the numbers of pre-orders, it appears as if there will be a significant number of early adopters - always a healthy sign for a new console.

But are the people pre-ordering the Wii U actually intending to buy it for themselves? My fear is there are a bunch of scalpers claiming multiple pre-orders at several stores in hopes of making a killing, and if they can't sell those systems for profit they'll just be returning them to the stores after a couple weeks. I'm sure there are a lot of people on NintendoLife that are pre-ordering, but beyond the hard-core Nintendo fans, I honestly don't know how many mainstream people are all that interested in the system right now.

@iphys Yeah, people do that all the time, that's true. But still, I know for a fact a ton of people are buying the Wii U.

I'm sure that's happening to some extent, but I'd be very, very surprised if it was more than a negligible amount.

Even if that is true, I don't think so many people are buying the system just to sell it for a fortune on eBay or something... And I know people do that, but wouldn't those people also want to wait and see how well the Wii U is selling for a fair price before they toss their money down the drain trying to flip one? Bottom line, there is no way people buying the system only to sell it for profit would make stores nationwide sell out of Wii U preorders.

I've got my two preordered. That's all that matters to me.

until we are able to see some real numbers, it is all speculation.

Got mine preordered the first day it was available to preorder. I asked the guy at ebgames today and they said there entire allotment of the deluxe model is sold out and they only got 23 deluxe models coming in on the 18th

people desperate to get one for a Xmas gift may be willing to pay way more than its actual worth to get their hands on one I've seen ps3 consoles go for nearly triple of its retail price... Which I find is stupid.. But hey ,you know the saying, A fool and his money is soon departed.

I would never again recommend buying anything at gamestop. Sure their second hand market got nice bargains. But as cheap their offers are as cheap is their service. I never buy hardware used, because then i dont have any warranty nor a solid feeling the thing would last for years to come.
So i thought why not try the gamestop deal with the trade in for 3Ds XL.
short story:
The XL obviously was new. It had a internal screen problem. Gamestop refused to take any actions. No replacement or refund was possible.
That day gamestop lost another customer.
Just my 2 cents: Never buy new hardware on gamestop. Better even never ever again buy something at gamestop.
Choose a shop, which you really trust and which wont fail you at new hardware faults. ( for example faulty monday productions or first year tech problems)
Thankfully there are oh so many other options available.
