Yay, I just got my new shiny Wii U Premium edition tonight!
We unboxed it with my pals and marveled at the awesome GamePad. We carefully set it up, but skipped system update for now.
We played Nintendo Land, laughed and had the most fun we have had for a while. Everything worked like a charm!
Then my friends left, and I decided to check the System Settings and maybe update the system firmware. Suddenly, the GamePad screen just didn't work. I was flabbergasted.
I tried rebooting the system, but it still did not work. (On a side note, the system froze as I tried to enter the System Setting for the second time..)
The screen shows a picture, and it responds to touch in a manner, but the cursor, as it were, is locked to the left corner of the screen. If I press another place in the screen, the hand cursor moves to the middle of the left corner and the place I'm pressing. As it is, it's unusable. Buttons and Wii remotes work alright.
WHAT DO?
Do I really have to send the machine to warranty? It'll take a month before I get a replacement...
I'm SO mad right now. I'm 25 so I can ''take it'', but I'm just really mad and dissappointed...
Why did I get the dud? Is there anything I can do? Could I recalibrate the Pad somehow?
EDIT: Problem solved, it was just some grain of dirt under the rim of the GamePad screen pressing it down at that point. LOL!
Yeah, I'll manage, either through said operations on the battery, or through warranty, but I was SO done waiting and felt like a little kid at christmass again, so this is just a major dissappointment having to WAIT yet more... :S It's not fair. (Now I feel like a kid who got the wrong present for christmass, hah)
But I guess it has to happen to somebody, huh? [Curses and other profanities]
I'm just not used to Nintendo products failing. My SNES and N64 still work perfect, and I NEVER did anything to fix them.
Only once I needed to fix the analogue stick of the N64 gamepad, but I could do it MYSELF.
Wii froze on me only once. Also the Wii U GamePad rattles... but that's just the way it is.
BTW, I had Wii Menu, Netflix and Youtube already intalled when I originally booted the machine! The system version was 1.0.1.E out-of-the-box.
If taking the battery out and/or charging , turning on off etc doesnt solve it , then it sounds like the panels knackered m8 take it back to store
I'm in Finland. The sucky thing is, the store where I bought it, is located in another town, some two hour drive away. I got mine via the post. Yeah, I live in the periphery...

So... did you try anything with battery?
That is cool you guys get all that stuff already installed.
Dunno, have to call the store tomorrow. (It's 10:28 pm up here in Scandinavia)
I wouldnt be asking...demand it to be replaced!
If they have none in stock then get a refund and buy elsewhere
Be faulty so quickly means the store needs to sort it out even if they try fob you off to Nintendo
